If you are using the adaptive cruise control with lane centering active (non hands free)--blue steering wheel icon above the charge meter....a double ding may indicate the lane centering has shut off. This could be because the camera cannot see the lines OR the road curves too much. I get it at the same spot everyday on my commute down the backroad with Lane centering engaged. The speed part will still be working..only you will be expected to steer without assistance

Likely not the answer, but...

The Mach-E has a buggy headlight switch. When we hear dings, we rotate it from Auto to Off, then back again, and the problem goes away. The dings are heard when we open the door (before starting), basically "you left the headlights on".

I wasn't using cruise control at the time, the road is too windy and unpredictable for that. But! That did give me an idea that maybe it's for the Lane Centering. I just read in the manual:

"Amber status with an audible tone, that then changes to gray status, indicates a system automatic cancellation"

Maybe the road was too much for the lane centering and it shut itself down. This is the road...

At least for me, the first time it happens, I literally backed out of my driveway and drove down my street.
No lanes to drift out of, no cruise, no Navi, no nothing (I had my seatbelt on and it was just me in the truck). At first I thought it was Waze, then I thought it might be a speed warning (I may have done 27 in a 25), but like I said earlier, all the obvious stuff would make sense, but the first thing I did was look at the dash and nothing.

Because it was so odd I tried to catch it again to figure out what it was, it's definitely a different sound too, not your normal seatbelt chimes or keep your hand on the wheel dings or all the other sounds the truck does, this was completely different from anything I've ever heard in 6 months of ownership.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to see if anyone else has heard this on their trucks. Sometimes when I’m driving around, I’ll get the double chime sound for seemingly no reason. It’s smart enough to lower my music volume but nothing pops up on the dash or screen.

It happened yesterday. I left my house, drove for about 5 minutes and then while cruising along… *ding* *ding*

I was at 91% SOC, sport mode, cruising around 35mph.

It doesn’t happen everyday and seems to be random. I’ll try to get a video of the interior when it happens.
I get the double ding occasionally. My theory is it is the same ding you get if you are driving and press the seat position recall. The seat will not move and the display will tell you if can’t recall the seat memory will in motion. I am using PAAK. Usually my profile does not load when I start the truck. Very rarely my profile will load while driving. I think when the profile loads while you are already in motion you get the double ding because the profile is trying to recall the seat position but can’t.

I’m in the same boat. Seems completely random. Sometimes as I’m backing out of the driveway and sometimes 10 minutes into a drive. I have all diver assist features off.

If I had to guess, it’s something to do with phone connection. I have no proof to support that but can’t figure out what else it could be.

It didn’t start until my first update. Owned the truck for 4 months without the chime.

When adaptive cruise control is disabled, and I accidentally hit the button on the left of the steering wheel to turn on cruise control (which happens often while turning), I get dings, but I also get a message warning me that adaptive cruise control is disabled. The first several times, I didn't see the message. Look for that.

Not sure, but if you have it activated to recognize/see/alert for the "speed limit" sign/change. That might be something to check. Just a thought. I turned that feature off when I first got my 22 Platinum. Again, not sure, but something to check...

Where do I find the the option to activate the speed limit alert? Is it only available with Blue Cruise or adaptive cc?

Well, on my Pro it happens randomly (usually in the first 30 seconds of starting vehicle, and some point in the first hour). I can confirm (for me) it's not related to BlueCruise, User Profiles, Navigation, Speed Limit signs, or ACC.

Happend to me today while I was at a red light after driving for 10 minutes. Happened three times in one minute. It DID flash something on the dash, but only for a fraction of a second so I could not read the error message.

Mine seems to have stopped the double chime at start-up. I have not noticed it the past week.
