haha, nice. My GF got me a whole coffee station to bring on ski trips for apres ski coffee.

Yea you sound scared listing things the cybertruck canā€™t do. We do know some things about it. Valid point with the smaller frunk but we do know the tesla bed is longer and it can charge at any dc fast charger with an adaptor so the issue charging with the tailgate down with a bike in the bed doesnā€™t make any sense. We donā€™t know if it has power outlets. the f150 may be superior but we donā€™t know the specs of the tesla yet. Once we know some details of the production model we can do a proper comparison.

I own a 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat ER -- like "title in hand" own it. I have clocked over 12k miles in the past four months alone. My truck has hauled furniture, motorcycles, bicycles, building materials, and charity donations. It has charged my Harley and been used as an aircraft carrier for my drones. It's not vaporware. It's not some hypothetical fanboy sh$%. It's sitting in my driveway and heck, I am taking it on a 500 mile roadtrip this afternoon.

Difference between your Cybertruck and my F150? Mine is real. The F150 Lightning is a real thing that people can buy with money.

It's the middle of September 2023...
  • Cybertruck "delivery" event has yet to be scheduled
  • There are no specs or trims available on Tesla's website
  • No pricing information to go with those specs and trims
  • Reservation holders have no idea when they're actually getting a truck. 2024? 25? 26?
  • Everyone knows that it will be unibody, but Elon still won't admit it
  • Thanks to a leaked email, Elon does admit that the fit and finish sucks
...and yes, it's actually a little weird that Tesla hasn't shared any specs about this vehicle that's supposed to "released" at any moment.

Santa Claus doesn't exist. There's no Easter bunny. Elon Musk is going to again disappoint you.

DC Fast Charging, making DC from AC, requires lots of fans and cooling. Hence, high speed chargers make some noise as does the car, managing battery pack thermals during high charge rate.

I think the whir he is referring to is the cooling pump in the pedestal. in most sites the AC/DC conversion gear is not close and V3 units are way quieter than the V2 with the large shroud on the back

Ah, youā€™re talking superchargers. Most CCS sites have that equipment easily within earshot.

Lightning is a special case in that regard, charge plug placement and relatively low power charge, combined with Ford was the first to agree to this. We should have the cable specially designed for us to be able to plug in just fine at V3's.

At 400A, the cable needs cooling.
This will be the issue: Tesla V3's are cooled due to the model 3/Y drawing up to 250kw. Tesla's charge curve drops pretty quickly as compared to the Ford, which can maintain up to 150KW to 80 percent. The adapter and cable will have to be oversized to carry that much current for that long of a window.

At 400A, at a temp rating of 60c ambient cooling and 10% margin, you would need copper cables of almost a full inch in diameter, or doubled-up conductors of about 3/4 inch each.
