The big news is the heat pump and possibly means it will be an option on other trims.

Press Release:

Introducing the F-150 Lightning Flash – a new tech-forward model
Ford adds new Lightning variant to lineup to make advanced tech capabilities accessible

Ford today is introducing a new F-150 Lightning model – F-150® Lightning® Flash™ – a tech-forward offering that brings together most of current customers’ favorite features under $70,000.

The F-150 Lightning Flash expands on the XLT model line by adding in-demand tech capabilities, including an extended-range battery, which has a targeted EPA-estimated range of 320 miles, available Ford BlueCruise1 hands-free highway driving, and a standard 15.5-inch touchscreen for seamless interactions and navigation. The F-150 Lightning Flash customer values an EV powertrain and advanced tech features paired with a more accessible price point and the F-150’s proven ability to handle anything- whether it’s people, pets, or gear.

“The F-150 Lightning Flash is a direct outcome of engaging with and learning from our customers. This truck combines many of the technology-forward features our customers love in our EV lineup, at a more accessible price. With an EPA-estimated 320 miles of range, the Lighting Flash is another example of the speed at which we are adapting to grow our EV business.” - - Marin Gjaja, Chief Operating Officer, Ford Model e

Our available hands-free highway driving technology, Ford BlueCruise,2 can help make driving less stressful and more enjoyable. The F-150 Lightning Flash comes with version 1.2, which includes Lane Change Assist, allowing the driver to change lanes hands-free by tapping the turn signal once the path is clear, and In-Lane Repositioning to help to keep the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes. It will also improve over time with software updates. And, with a new flexible option, customers can choose to activate BlueCruise at any point during their vehicle ownership journey – at purchase, annually or even monthly – and use it when they need it. Customers can also try BlueCruise for 90 days from vehicle purchase during a complimentary trial.

Crossing fingers for heat pump option. Exactly what I was thinking
I'm sure that would be especially useful in Wisconsin.

Outside of heat pump, the range is the same. Ford isn't even claiming more range. But, if you live in a cold climate the heat pump is giving you mroe range.

Ford's "A New Tech-Forward Model" Model, is the same as existing Lariat+ models, but it has a Heat Pump?

Love that new tech that was even included in my e-golf :p Watch out Tesla.

More range in a cold climate is too encompassing. Heat pumps don't help in very cold temperatures, they help in a limited temperature band. So it may help someone in Canada in say November, but likely won't help in January.

It’s good to have options if we can get them. Consumers can decide if it’s the right fit for them.

It is more about offering tech that was only available in the Lariat (Bigger screen, upgraded audio, bluecruise) in the XLT.

Honestly if this had been an option last year, I would have gotten it instead of my Lariat.

Looks like Ford is derating the Pro Charger to 48A and renaming it starting next year. It was mentioned as an available charging option later in the article.

Or they are introducing a third option.

Hard to tell.

Me too. It’s a silly name, ‘Flash’, but would be a nice upgrade to my 22 XLT.

Seems odd that Ford would only offer the heat pump on this single trim. Maybe it's a supply chain issue? or a UAW issue? or another "quality control" issue? 2025 might be the magic year with heat pump and NACS connector.

I could possibly be persuaded into this depending on what it has vs the Lariat once more info comes out.

...and if Azure Gray is still available...

I spent 10 minutes reading everything twice to see if Ford made the 350 mile range claim on current vehicles or The Verge just wrote an incorrect article.

Looks like it's just TheVerge being wrong this time unless we are getting some sort of software unlock in the future. Off Topic, but my truck with 40,000 miles is showing 99% battery health.

Smart move by Ford to offer this greatest hits model as it will become the new sweet spot for sales. Other Notes and Changes
Only a BlueCruise Trial of 90 days on Flash

Differences between 511a Lariat and Flash (all speculation)
No Moonroof (none in image)
No Second Row heated seats
No heated steering wheel
No phone as a key
No heated or cooled front seats
No mention of onboard scales
No Ford Charge Station Pro included

- Personally, other than the moonroof and the fact that I would have to buy a charge station pro separately, these aren't deal breakers for me.

It would be really nice if they could get bluecruise 1.2 or 1.3 or whatever they're going to call it on my 23 Lariat.

Probably going to see heat pump on the 24 models.

They should have called it the lightning "strike" model.
