They don't list models with it included. They are now 2 years late for the Lightning. They promised it in '23. So currently it is nothing more than old news.

I disagree. The Lightning is one of their flagship models, it should get this. Also, this has pictures, that is new news.

Sorry - I'm not asking for agreement or not, I'm telling you the news is two years old and Ford hasn't delivered. If it shows up tomorrow, then I'll be wrong. Right now Ford hasn't been able to make it happen and you are reading more corporate propaganda.

When and what did Ford promise for the Lightning in regards to this? Link?

All of this looks to be the infotainment that will be in new models, starting with the Lincoln Nautilus. I highly, highly doubt any of this will come to our Lightnings. That would be a retroactive OS replacement for our infotainment. I've never heard of such a thing happening.

" As part of this new, six-year partnership—and beginning in 2023—millions of future Ford and Lincoln vehicles at all price points will be powered by Android, with Google apps and services built-in. "

In Spring 2022, Ford confirmed that they were running behind schedule, and that "millions" of vehicles would not have Android Automotive by 2023, as they earlier had said.

Farley said "later in the Fall" referring to 2022's Fall. They also stated that the "first batch" of Lightnings would not ship with Android Automotive, but 2023s would.

2023s did not ship with Android Automotive.

And yes, there will be no retroactive anything.

Interesting. Hadn't seen that. I highly doubt any Lightning will get Android Automotive OS. Next generation will probably be the first. That would be a big mid cycle refresh.

You're probably right. But some of the images from the article are showing Sync4 hardware... there's a slim chance they back fill it to us, but Ford would rather see us buy a new T3 than make us happy with the LT we already have.

Whatever 10 year old CPU they used to run the Sync 4A system couldn't handle that Unreal engine-based OS.

Oh yah, it’s going to be retrofitted to our Lightnings, right after the Fall 2023 delivery of BC 1.4. (He says, tongue in cheek).

Ford has already said it won't be added to prior years.

Could be worse, the 2024 Maverick still has Sync 3 but only on the Lariat. The XL and XLT trims get a generic Bluetooth entertainment system. They all get wired Carplay/AA though.

Meanwhile our "older" technology get abandoned, and we get stuck with bugs and lack of updates.
