2023 XLT SR: I saw in the Software update screen that Power Up 6.2.0 was available, but it will not allow me to update. You can see the pictures below. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

Hi there, Ron! Go ahead and send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer, and I’ll look into your software update concern. Thanks!

I had an update pending for a couple weeks. I set the parking brake, locked the doors, patted my head/rubbed my belly while facing southwest while plugging in. After putting battery on trickle charger, I got it.
The update said something about smart changes. Next day after update, screen pops no key detected. Now I’m wondering what smart changes.

Your truck thought the same thing.

After becoming smarter, it noticed you patting your head and rubbing your belly and questioned whether it should allow you to drive it or not.

Love it, but she can be fickle at times.

I got the notice of a successful 6.2.0 Update, but have not had the chance to start up the lightning.
Will try patting my head/rubbing my belly while facing southwest prior to starting.🤞

Update and question. A Ford representative saw my post and reached out to me, which I thought was cool. They had me call their OTA software department.

After a number of questions a very nice representative told me that Power Up 6.2.0 has another week to download before it is considered a problem.

She also told me to have the lights off, parking break on, and make sure I drive it at least 30 minutes per day.

So, did anyone else have this or another update take this long - and - what about the instructions to have break on and lights off?

Anyone familiar with this? Thanks.

Send me your VIN. I can see the same thing their "OTA team" can see. I can't provide any insight unless I can see why it is failing myself. I can tell you hundreds of vehicles have gotten OTA's with their headlights not in the off position and without the parking brake not being on. That is not the reason it is not going through.

Many of us, myself included have had updates take numerous days to install once downloaded, the tips regarding, driving or running the truck for a period of time daily, lights off, parking brakes set have been mentioned in the past, hopefully your update posts shortly.

Humorous yet serious side note, taking my wife out to dinner in the afternoon, pushing update now, after completing the drive to the restaurant has worked like magic on several occasions, give it a try.

Long drives, that’s the key. It’ll keep your LV topped up and give the update ample time to download.

I find I get the most consistent updates after taking a road trip. At home with short drives it almost never updates.

There have also been updates that failed to start because it thought various lights were on (they weren’t) but were a symptom of something else. In one case I had to disable automatic updates to get the update to initialize. But those are few and far between. 99% of the time a long drive solves the problem, and in my experience a long drive is greater than 1 hour, I’m surprised Ford only said 30min.

Ford Power-Up 6.2.0 just appeared on screen.

And it was the first time I saw "Update successfully" message after the installation. All previous installed silently.
