Keep 80AMP Ford Charge Station for non-Ford EV? (Not Installed Yet)

I have an uninstalled Ford Charge Station with the 80AMP capability. I now have a GMC Sierra that I plan to keep for a while. I'm not sure whether I should sell this one and get a non vehicle manufacture (generic) 80 amp station for long term use, or whether this Ford one is fine in case I own GM, Tesla, Kia, etc in the future. Any benefits to keeping it, or should I replace; what do you all think? I'm mostly wondering if it will have Ford specific settings that will get annoying to use with a non-Ford EV.

You could make it work, the setup app will work as far as getting it connected to your wifi network, only reason to do that is to get all the updates it needs since being manufactured.

I would recommend selling it and take the funds to buy a third party EVSE that has statistical reporting, this opinion coming from the data nerd that I am.

The is one potential compatibility issue. The Ford CSP has CCS pins on the vehicle connector when used to feed power from the truck back into a home backup system. For charging the CCS portion isn't used. This means the charger cannot be readily used with vehicles having J1772-only or NACS ports. I remember reading that there isn't an adapter available for either or both. There is a CCS-NACS adapter but it's for DCFC and it won't pass AC current through.

More good info! I guess you'll be seeing it in the classified ads. Probably better off passing it on. Regardless, I always used my external 50amp plug to charge my Lightning when I had it. So I can take my time and recoup some cost of my vehicle swap by selling.

Will you use data logging? What vehicles don't have a CCS capability and what are the odds you'll want to charge one of those? What can you realistically get for a FCSP and how much does another charger cost?

From my perspective as someone who doesn't care about stats or charging some future vehicle the paid for bird-in-hand FCSP is superior to the birds in the bush.

No. In fact it doesn't even work with all Fords. Only the Lightning.

It has both a J1772 and NACS plugs so you can charge most anything. NACS (Tesla) inputs will be on most new EV's starting next year. So you will future proof with a Tesla Universal WAll Connector the hardware.

If you get a new EV after next year the Ford Charge Statin Pro with the bulky CCS1 connector will work be able to work with NACS vehicles even with an adapter.

I like the Tesla products, in fact when I had my Lightning I only charged off a Tesla mobile charger with the Lectron adapter. However, it looks like their wall unit maxes out at 48amps? Do they have an 80amp product? Now that I have a 205kw battery charge, I wouldn't mind something little faster if needed.

Tesla used to have a 80 amp wall connector. Came with 8 ft or 24 ft charge cord. May still be able to find one on eBay or other places.
However, not sure the Lectron adapter (or any adapter) is rated for that high of amps. So likely would only use on vehicle that had NACS (Tesla) port.

Yes, it can.

@mrau I actually hadn't thought of the adapter issue. I'll need to look into it. I may go wit the Grizzl-e 80amp. They want $699, not bad.

I use my Ford Pro on my 23 ER and my 24 Lyric AWD , no issues with either as the EV runs the charging cycle. The Ford supplied DC Tesla adapter works fine on both as well.
No problems.
