2022 Ford Lightning Lariat ER
ADD ME TO THE LIST OF FAILED BATTERY MODULES! I have a 2022 Lariat with 23k easy miles on it. I've only taken it to a fast charger twice, never charged over 85%, etc.

Never had a single problem, and then my truck had the warning wrench light wrench come on randomly on December 31st and couldn't I take the power over 57%. Still drove fine though.

I got it to the dealer in Portland on January 2nd, and on Jan. 3rd they said they found the truck has a failed cell in one of the battery modules and they need to replace that module. They said they do not give loaners for this.

Fast forward to today, January 21st, and the latest text message from my "team" at the dealer was "I just looked and I haven't seen anything and my parts specialist is unable to track them as it is a special order part. All I can see is that the order is processed but not yet arrived at the dealer yet."

They are offering me a loaner now, but I don't want to pay for gas. Will Ford reimburse me for the gas???

WTF??? @Ford Motor Company

The service department must first submit a report to Ford on the battery cell voltages. Ford will then approve the warranty repair and allow the service department to place an order for the replacement battery module.

2023 XLT Lightning SR
Add me to the list. 2023 XLT SR power reduced to 53 and charging faults. Dropping off at Peoria Ford here in AZ tomorrow. Been on software update 10.1.1 for a month so no new updates that would have caused this.
Build Date 10/23, purchased 7/24. 6900 miles.

Just got a call from my dealer after dropping off last Thursdayā€¦.need a HVB replaced. I didnā€™t talk to the tech but my rep called and said he will give me specifics tomorrow and get me in a loaner.

I had two modules replaced on a ā€˜22 Lariat ER after a powertrain malfunction. Took almost three weeks. Since the replacement I have experienced significant drops in battery charge with little driving. At 100% charge I am never getting above 285 Miles. I have reset th driving history and there is no difference. My biggest concern is I make the same 170 mile one way trip about twice a month and I never had to charge in the winter. The last three trips I have had to stop and charge.

What I have noticed is that the battery charge will be 100% but after 1 to 2 miles of driving the battery will dropped to 90% and sometimes lower.

Has anyone that had the powertrain malfunction and got modules replaced experienced the same thing. Not sure how to explain this to the dealer with our sounding crazy.

Service folks should have mentioned that there could be a period of time ~21 days which you have just met, the new HVB module needs to balance with the rest of the pack, this is supposed to affect how high your charging reaches, eventually they should even out and charging and drive performance should return to normal.

Has your winter been much colder than last year?

Our area had a very mild winter the past two years, while this year is more seasonable to colder, that would have an impact on long trips.

Last week I got the dreaded amber charge port lights when I plugged in the charging cord. Started the vehicle and had the Power Train Malfunction/Reduced Power and High Voltage Battery Warning messages. Had my 2023 w/12,000 miles on the clock towed to my local dealership Friday morning. Today (Tuesday) the service department called me and told me battery module six needs replacing. To my surprise they also told me a rental with my name on it was waiting for me at a local car rental location. While I;m not happy with my choice of the rental car option made available to me, at least I can get to work. They had no info for me on the ETA for parts.

The Lightning was my 10th new Ford purchase, and much as Iā€™ve never been more delighted with a previous new car purchase, Iā€™ve never had one with a serious problem that took the car from me for what Iā€™m expecting will be weeks. Itā€™s odd, Iā€™m actually embarrassed to tell anyone my one-year old Ford EV is dead in the water with a very well known battery problem. I donā€™t know if or how Iā€™ll ever feel comfortable taking the family on a trip in it in the future. Sighā€¦.

I received the P0B24 warning Christmas Eve. I just cleared it and was able to complete a 1,500 road trip with no major issue. DC charging slows more than normal above 83% and AC charging slows above 93%. The warning on the dash says "Service Vehicle soon." You can keep using it until it's convenient to bring in.

Ford needs to streamline the process minimize the time customer is without their warrantied vehicle:
(1) remotely validate imbalanced cells
(2) contact customer and order replacement battery module with delivery to their preferred service dept
(3) Once replacement arrives, schedule service for customer
(4) Ensure customer receives loaner and explain reimbursement process

Did not mention anything. I think we are in the same general area. My long trips are from NJ to the Berkshires. As you stated we have had colder than normal temps recently. But my service was on 10/17 and until recently the temps were about the same as the last two years.

I think I am going to take the truck in, but I am hesitant because all my visit have meant at least four days without the truck.

Thank you for all your great advice and support if this site.

For my spreadsheet tracking the PM/RP, battery cell/module, or related failures (in my signature below) would you be so kind as to let me know, or post here, your build date (mo,yr top of drivers door b-pilar sticker), mileage, model/year, ER/SR battery? Trying to see if Ford is getting better at having SK On manufacture batteries (cells in modules) that do not fail. Thank you!

Hi

I donā€™t have my truck back yet so I canā€™t get you the markings from the pillar but hereā€™s the rough information. 2022 XLT SR. I had just spun 30k miles.
Thanks

You need to take me off that list, I've already replied that my alert was not an actual error.
