I wonder if this alleged FLEET ORDER included the option code 99M, if not I suspect they have the default is 997, also would like to see proof that the FCSP was actually pumping above 48 amps as they say but failing to get similar rate from non Siemens 80 amp charger.

I don’t understand why Ford eliminated the dual onboard chargers especially if you have the ER battery??
It seems like maybe the cost cutting moves have gone overboard?

United Chargers, who makes all the Grizzl-E EVSEs, is claiming that Ford Lightnings can only charge at 80 amps on the Ford Charge Station Pro.

Has anyone charged at 80 amps (or more than 48 amps) on an AC/L2 EVSE other than the Ford Charge Station Pro?
I’ve charged my Lightning on a 2nd-Gen Tesla Wall Charger set up for 80A. Need a proper 80 Amp rated J1772 adapter — I have the Tesla-Tap. I know I’m not the only one to have done this…

The Lightning does nothing special or different to accept 80A @ 240V as far as I’m aware — and it works with the other main 80A charger out in the wild. Seems to me they’re making excuses because outside of older Tesla Model S (dual onboard charging units) charging at 80A and then 2016-2018 Model X with the high-capacity charger upgrade, charging at 72A, I think the Lightning is the only other EV out there that does it. And now Ford has limited the 240V charging to 48A on the 2024 and 2025 model years. Just as Tesla no longer offers > 48A on their vehicles. We’ll, you can still order the dual-charger 80A ability if you’re a fleet customer.

This customer of theirs that’s having issues probably, surely, does not have the dual onboard chargers…

I charge all the time on a ClipperCreek (now Enphase) HCS-80. It's rated at 64 amps output; currently sending 12.1 kW to my 2022 Lariat ER. That's about 58 amps on the 208v service here at work.

Since they are claiming that it is a fleet ordered 2024, all,the posts about "my 2022 or 2023 charges fine" are irrelevant...

I think @TaxmanHog nailed it.

Yup, I guarantee people have bought '24's and not realized it can only handle 48Amps now and decided to by the 80A Grizzlee charger rather than the Ford 80A charger because it's cheaper. Now they're bitching to United Chargers that they're only getting 48Amps. To be fair, it isn't super clear on Ford's website that they changed from 80A to 48A. But read a few reviews and they all comment on it.

This X thread is like a whose on first skit. I haven’t tested it but I’d wager a bet that any 80amp charger will work with a 2022 or 2023 Lightning OR with a 2024 that added the dual onboard charger from the factory. If they didn’t add the dual onboard charger from the factory then it will stop at 48amps. I’d be real surprised if somehow Ford only lets 80amps happen with just their specific charger.

I didn't have the explicit standards for J1772 so do not know if this has been updated, but in 2017, the SAE published a paper talking about the lack of a communication protocol that provided a means of vehicle or EVSE identification or any other advanced information exchange.

In fact, the EVSE is in control of the current. If anything is lowering the charge rate, it's the grizzle EVSE, not the vehicle.

Seems Grizzle customer service reps should talk to the engineers at their company to verify what they're claiming before they make such claims publicly.

"Ford F-150 lightning has a huge battery and pretty much USELESS without 80 Amps charger "

It's pretty rediculous to put a company on blast off of heresay from a customer (who is probably ill informed of the charge rates). While the poster was trying to get people fired up towards Ford, all they did was get everyone fired up at Grizzl-e/United. The irresponsible post will cost that company sales from 22/23 Lightning customers that think their charger is incompatible. It will also cost them from those of us that won't give Grizzl-e/United our business in the future because of newfounded lack of trust.
