Ok, now I'm confused on the firmware update. Am I supposed to put those values into a file for the system to write? Also, I don't appear to have some of the sections that you had values for, is that an issue or do those values overwrite?

No all configuration changes are done in the As-Built area like other configuration stuff. Execute the changes the same way and you should be able to get the handle working and responding to the capacitive buttons PIDs. Where you have custom selected there should be a drop down for available. But as of just last week it was not there yet. This means you will need need the files. I will send to you in a PM.

Yeah, the configuration changes I already made and those all worked fine, even the light on approach worked. I think I found where to download the files from, but the link said I didn't have permission to access the site. I appreciate the help!

Firmware update was successful and really easy! Forscan doesn't even let you try to choose the wrong firmware file for the update, so that made things a lot quicker. Just make sure your laptop is charged up and not going to do a restart in the middle of the flashing and you should be good to go!

Just finished this as well today. Everything is working as it should. Unfortunately I ran into a few issue which I would like to help the next person avoid. As jdmackes mentioned remove the speaker and loosen the lower window guide rail, it will make it much easier to fish the harness in and out.

Secondly if you have adaptive cruise your value for 726-16-01 should be C110 4390 60 if you have regular cruise control like me keep it at C110 4388 60.

Additionally you'll want to request the files from Forscan for the firmware update prior to starting. I did not have these and got them from ZSC100.

Overall the process took me about 4-5 hours. Not sure how people got it done much faster. And last of all a huge thanks to both ZSC100 for figuring this mod out and helping me with the install, and JDMACKES for also helping during the install. I definitely couldnt have done it without either of their helps.

Now to find out the equivalent passenger part numbers…….

I installed everything, completed the forscan changes and did the FW update today. Everything works perfectly! Thank you @Blochead21 for the support and @ZSC100 for making this tread and pioneering this upgrade.

I'm curious if anyone has looked at what is needed to do the passenger side as well? I'm looking at getting paint matched handles from BFN and when you get the kit that has the cutout for the button, both driver and passenger doors have the cutout. I'm guessing it's the same process on the passenger side, replace the handle with one that includes a sensor and replace the wiring harness. Has anyone tried this yet?

Should be the exact same, I confirmed the passenger side 4 wires are there at the BCM. However, I can't imagine anyone spending this money or labor for it on the passenger side. It's just not economical IMO. It would have to be a very unique situation where you went to the passenger door first often. I don't think it would work well for a passenger either b/c it relies on the key which would be with the driver.

The bronco handles are not the same. They are two wire and not four.
Would it be possible to buy just the cover/outside piece of the Bronco handle (or buy the whole handle and remove the cover) to use on the Lightning handle assembly, if we didn't trust ourselves enough to cut the hole our of our original handle cover/outer?

I feel like the outside piece has to have its own part number, and should be available for order, right? It seems like every individual piece of the car, down to the bolts, can be ordered individually.

If anyone could figure out the part number for the textured black cover piece from the Bronco, I'd be willing to order it and try it out.

I've been thinking about doing it, partially because every once in a while I'm on the passenger side and want to unlock the door, but also because I'm now out of things to do to the truck and I'm getting antsy and wanting to do more....
JD let's add the scales, I suspect I already have the wiring at the wheel wells, just need the transducers

IT doesn't, I ripped my parts guy about this, but then apologized b/c it's not his fault, he scoured the system and even called a few people. Ford only sells the handles as assemblies :( IT's stupid AF b/c you have to buy the whole thing with the passive module. The Bronco may very well be the exact same physical outer handle shell and fit the passive module of the Lightning but the passive module you'll get with the Bronco is definitely not the right module. It sucks, but that's just the way it is.

The bare ABS handles are cheap though, I went ahead and bought one to write a CNC program to cut/bevel the hole. I'll release that here so others can have any local person with a CNC run them and Jesse with Infotainment may start selling them with core ship-back, so he can continue to offer them.

I'm thinking about buying the bronco handles, stealing the abs covers from them, slapping my primed one onto it and then selling that on eBay.
