What impact does this have on V2H capability? Tesla vehicles don't have any such functionality, so no need for supporting it in the charging system.
Anything is still possible with adapters.

Tesla superchargers are already opening up to others, whats new?
Not all superchargers will have a magic dock. Maybe 20% of them so this is a big deal for Ford vehicles.

Hello folks.
These are great news. I had to watch it and read it twice to sink in. Finally. The relationship between Elon and Jim has produced a great friendship.
EA you're in trouble now. I am dreading my ride to the coast tomorrow morning.
EA will disappoint me again. This is a game changer. Hope is sooner than later.
I am ready. Time to mingle with the Tesla folks. Hopefully, there will be no hard feelings. Let us see what the landscape will look like in a year.
I am impressed also by what I heard from Mr Farley about the future of batteries, range and efficiency. Slapping a 200+ KW battery in a vehicle in order to claim that you got range is not practical.
Efficiency is practical and logical.
Ford got that right. I am glad Tesla and Ford got together on this one. Can't wait for the transition to take effect.
All this will make traveling much easier.
Good luck folks.

I like the idea overall, but hope they don't ditch the J1772/CCS port.
When the gen2 Fords come out in 2025, they will only have NACS ports, no J1772/CCS. But you’ll be able to charge at J1772 or CCS with an adapter, similar to what Tesla does now.

It shouldn’t make a difference. That would be Ford’s additional functionality on top of NACS, which is just a connector.

I am really not sure how I feel about that. I have heard generally good things about the Tesla connector, but I am not a big fan of the company and don't like being tied closer to them. Using an adapter every time to charge at home seems like a major pain and replacing our EVSEs is not exactly cheap.

Love what you're saying.

Ford XLT SR will be worth an extra $10K

$66K + $10K = $76K which is still way much less than Lariat at $90K

I think the only thing that is unsolved is that with a traditional adapter, the cords at superchargers are still too short to reach the Lightning port unless the Lightning steals the cord from an adjacent spot. Maybe the adapter gives you extra cord length, which would be annoying to carry around. Or Tesla might install longer cords. It’ll be interesting to see how it’s implemented.

OEMs really fumbled the ball standardizing what body panel the plug goes, but that’s a whole other discussion

I’ll pick up an adapter as soon as it’s available as it will open up fast charging options considerably.

Brilliant move by Tesla, because this will be justification for them to access the inflation reduction act dollars. You can expect Magic Dock to be slow roll, if any growth at all. I suspect that Tesla was talking to every automaker knowing that they just needed one big fish to make the switch.

Interesting times and every Ford EV just became more valuable. 👍

Hate the man/company all you want. Don't let that get in the way of superior technology.

You'll be welcome to take that CCS adapter and avoid Tesla completely still in the future. You'll be able to still use 3 sources and plan your route carefully to ensure you can find charging. Or you can opt to get in your truck, plug in a destination and not worry about it again.

Other companies can make nacs charging stations. I don't believe that Tesla charges a royalty for using the standard/connector.
