I'm about ready to buy a rotary module and throw it behind the seat. If the shifter ever does go bad I would rather rip the center apart than wait for a tow
I did this - grabbed one of the $30 used ones from eBay. They do say scrap if dropped, and unfortunately since the TSB was posted we also know that some of the problems could be a misplaced pin in a wiring harness. I'm with you though. If I can disassemble in 10 - 15 minutes and plug in a rotory shifter to save me, that is a big deal. I don't see myself replacing it long term, but it's a nice backup.

I fold my GSM down quite a lot to use the work space (which is one of the reasons I love this truck since I can use it as laptop table). Never had had any problems so far. If I switch to the rotary dial shifter, will I be able to use the fold out work area?

Any time you want, including when you are driving.

@PyDust have you gotten your GSM replaced yet? If so, how long was the part on hold for?

I did get mine replaced. It did take 3 weeks for my parts to be cleared and delivered.

Found out today mine needs to be replaced. Dealer is saying it’ll be Monday or Tuesday for the part. Fingers crossed.

I had a Bronco loaner with rotary shifter and really didn’t like its shifter. Is the same device used on the ice 150s as on the Lightnings? And my Lightning is a May ‘22 build. Have the early Lightnings been having this problem?
Mine was a May 22 build and has had the shifter replaced.

I’m getting nervous, mines is starting to make the sound (when you lift that silver piece up and shift) like 3-5 times before it stops. The shifter isn’t folding anymore as well. When I push the button, it goes forward a sec then stops and go back. Then I have to wiggle the shifter some to have it change to R or D. Looking at that rotary mod now.

Adding to this. You need to ensure whatever 3d version of the cubby you buy has the rotary GSM sitting below the threshold.
