I had the same thought.I'm about ready to buy a rotary module and throw it behind the seat. If the shifter ever does go bad I would rather rip the center apart than wait for a tow
I did this - grabbed one of the $30 used ones from eBay. They do say scrap if dropped, and unfortunately since the TSB was posted we also know that some of the problems could be a misplaced pin in a wiring harness. I'm with you though. If I can disassemble in 10 - 15 minutes and plug in a rotory shifter to save me, that is a big deal. I don't see myself replacing it long term, but it's a nice backup.I'm about ready to buy a rotary module and throw it behind the seat. Any time you want, including when you are driving.I fold my GSM down quite a lot to use the work space (which is one of the reasons I love this truck since I can use it as laptop table). Never had had any problems so far. If I switch to the rotary dial shifter, will I be able to use the fold out work area?
