Check my spreadsheet linked in my signature below and do a find for "57%" and you can see a number of reports. For some it is a bad cell in a battery module, and for others it can be a different cause. Most of these listed in the main thread for PM/RP since 2022. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/powertrain-malfunction-reduced-power.12873/
@powercatnewt , what is your build date shown on the drivers door sticker? miles?
oh man, if I had seen this spreadsheet before buying I would of ran for the hills. Purchased a 24 Flash 2 days ago and "Powertrain malfunction" has appeared on my dash. It doesn't appear that I have reduced power but I'm also still learning all the displays. My gear shift also does not fold down so I'm hoping it's just that?

Chances are good it’s not a battery module. Nearly if not all that have had that failure have seen power reductions down in the 60-50% range.

Hello, I have a 2023 XLT extended range and got this error message at just over 10k miles. The dealer replaced a bad module and I got the truck back after about 10 days. I was curios if anyone out there has had multiple module failures? Like once my one bad module has been replaced, should I be good, or can I expect more issues going forward. Also, is there a link to the spreadsheet I saw mentioned that shows all the module failures? Thanks!

A few folks have had subsequent failures, hopefully they are a minority, until it happens again enjoy your Lightning.

See my signature for the link to the spreadsheet. Yes, several folks (see the Red highlighted lines) have had multiple battery module failures. What is the build date on yours? (driver's door, top of info sticker)

Unfortunately looks like I might have a possible battery module failure. 2022 Lariat ER almost 60k miles. Wrench light came on Saturday Power meter stuck at 57% available. I was going to try to charge past 72% since others said there’s with the failed battery module. Now it will not charge on my home charger. Heading to a DCFC just to see. Dealer can’t look at it until Wednesday. I checked the 12 volt connections they are tight. Anything else I could try? Thank you!

Update: Dropped truck of Tuesday and now Wednesday evening they confirmed it needs a module replaced. They said ford requires them to put in on a charger overnight. Service technician said It takes 5-7 days to get the module in and then a day or so to install so supposed to have it back by the end of next week. I’m curios what the cost is for out of warranty repair anyone have that happen yet? I’ll be out of warranty in about a year and a half.

So I learned something from the service advisor today. According to him it just depends on which cell goes out and your locked to that charge level. Mine is 62% battery so I can charge up to that level and that’s it. One guys cell went out that was at 3% so he couldn’t go over that level. Tried DC as well. Do you think it’s hard on the rest of the pack to keep driving it?

Just when you think it’s safe to go back in the water…
Anyone experience this? What’s it mean? Do I have a lemon?

Please read through the comments... and/or see my spreadsheet in my signature for a condensation.

There have been other solutions other than replacing one of the nine battery modules, so I wish you one of the easier solutions. Ford did predict that 4% of early production trucks would have a battery problem. What is your build date (b-pillar sticker inside driver's door).

If what you said is true, I am guessing since modules are connected in series BMS is bypassing all modules after the bad one. So on my Pro if 4th module goes bad, I will be around 50% power and 50% voltage. Which means remaining packs probably will stay at their last charge level. So if they were at 100% it is not good for them, if they were at 50% they are OK with a long wait. However the first 3 packs will have to pull double duty until the rest come online. In your case since you have 9 modules, It looks like 3 of them may be out. If they were all the same size you would be restricted to 67% but one of the modules is smaller so 62% sounds right.

This is all a gut feeling and I have no idea how it really works. If anyone does please do share.

Have any of you guys put a car scanner on after you get the wrench of death to see what your pack voltage and cell and module variation is?

As to your image, I think only the dealer or someone with Ford software can see the 96 individual cell Voltages and Capacities? In the case you are showing, Cell #18 is the lower Voltage than normal bad one. The Car Scanner App via the OBD2 port can show a "HvbMinModV" (High Voltage Battery Minimum Module Voltage) but not individual V+Ah of each of the 96 cells.

I did use car scanner to scan for DTC but I don’t believe anything is useful besides it reading voltage unstable. Agreed I don’t believe car scanner has the ability to read individual cells.
Btw my battery health according to car scanner was 99.5% I have right at 60k miles. I try and treat the battery right lot of good that did me lol.
