IMHO, this thread needs mi/kWh numbers more than GOM estimates. My longest single leg has been 274 miles at average 2.3 mi/kWh.

I only use the GOM as a minor datapoint. I think it’s more accurate than I think it is, but never enough to trust more than what’s happening in the real world.

Brought my lightning home from where I bought it and it was around 450 miles one way. I could have made it home on one charging stop, but I have noticed that when using the Ford mapping, instead of stopping to charge back up to 80% and going long stretches, that it wants you to stop several times at 10 minutes here....20 minutes here....15 minutes here to charge up. If it wants me to stop and charge up to 50% from 15% to get to my next destination, I just disregard that and just go ahead to 80% while I'm already there. Usually it will just skip the next one or 2 charges that it had me stopping at to get to my next destination. Rivian mapping may just do the opposite and take you longer stretches at the time with longer charging times at each stop, which is what I prefer doing anyways.

The Rivian mapping is just as terrible if not worse. I had the Rivian Nav, ABRP, Plugshare, and Waze all going. It's as if they fail to account for charging overhead or traffic. I think I skipped 2-3 recommended charging stops.

In my experience, Tesla is the only one who's been pretty accurate with the stops and calculates on the fly. But that may be an advantage in owning the charging networks where Ford and Rivian may be building in buffers...just in case EA is being EA.

We have some fast and open roads down here in Texas. I'm lucky to see 2.1 m/kWh on the highway. Mostly 1.8-2.0 at 75-80 mph. I have seen as low as 1.3 up against a headwind at 50F.

Around town it's funny how high the GOM will go. All above the EPA 2.4 m/kWh, often well above. Would be curious to know if that calculation included HVAC.

Really the only problem I have had with the Ford mapping is the destination. I may put you at your destination with 10% left and no charging available within your range. It also doesn't account for your home having a charger even if its in your vehicles charge settings. Would be nice to be able to add that data to the map without everyone else having it.

I'm averaging 1.6 to 1.7 MPK the past few nights of southern & central New England weather, the heat is on at 69°, speeds are in the area of 70 MPH range on the freeway with passing bursts here & there, not sure I would want to do this in hyper-miler mode this time of year, it gets chilly after 3+ hours on the road.

Given those conditions I compute about 215 miles range running from 100% to 5% (assuming the destination is a charge station for the next journey leg or my home)

SR Battery, Fully Charged as my commute to and from work combined is 110 miles. Had to follow my wife to the dealer to drop off her whip overnight so it could be serviced the next morning which was 60 miles round trip. Stopped off to do another errand on the way back from the dealer which was 15 miles out of the way. 110+60+15=185 on a single charge with about 2.2 m/KWH because my wife drives like an old lady. It was fairly warm by NH standards so no HVAC which plays a big role. I don't recall the exact miles left on the battery, but it was low enough to make my ass pucker a bit. Hope this helps.

I have driven a 175 mile trip 3 times round trip to a second home on the other side of a mountain pass. In each case, it was a little different. When it was warmer I would get there with around 100 miles to spare. When it was cold (it was around 7 degrees F) we stopped at a supercharger and put energy back into it about halfway through for ~15 minutes. Got home again with about 55 miles I think. My charge logs only go back so far or I would look up actual numbers. I think 200 miles would be your normal limit without a supercharger or a way to easily charge being between the two points without feeling a little anxious.

I’ve chimed in a bunch, but now closing up a 1200 mile round trip. Speed limits 75-80 mph, mostly going as fast as possible (85-90 average). Temps between 40-70F, average 60.

Overall average is 1.6 m/kWh. P&C has been working every time so it’s actually not bad at all. Wife and I will take this any day over our old e-tron which actually charges faster. Only bummer is Bluecruise taps out at 80 mph (normal lane keep still works).

Just curious, what area of the country you are traveling?

My 3 trips of any distance - 200 miles from door to door. Texas to Oklahoma. Left the house with 100% charge each time.

Summer - temps 100 or more, avg speed probably 70 to 75. Mi/Kw 2.0 even - 131 kW batter - 262 miles would have been possible. Running full AC at 71 degrees.

Thanksgiving - temps in the 60's - avg speed 70-75. Mi/kW 2.0 even - would have also been about 262 miles possible. Little HVAC used.

Christmas - temps in the teens. avg speed 75 to 80 when I realized I wasn't going to make it to my destination on a single charge. Running heated seat and heat on 69 - mi/kW 1.3 - 170 miles total. I had to charge to make it to my destination.

Truck is stock - AT tires.

I just did a 600 mile trip in my Rivian R1T that only required 1 stop to charge and have been looking to get back into a F-150 Lightning ER. That got me thinking, would I come close to that in the Lightning? On my Lightning Pro, I got a little over 200 miles out of a 100% charge in Aug in the NE. On an ER I'm thinking the would project out to be roughly 268 miles.

Rules of the thread, please try to include the details as this heavily affects the distance. (ie, the same vehicle below normally avg 250-260mi max) Indicate the actual miles travelled, you can indicate the projected as an addition or miles displayed on the GoM but the actuals are the important piece here.

Details of the Competition:
2022 Rivian R1T
- Conserve mode / Lowest Suspension Setting
- 22" Sport Wheels @ 50psi
- Avg Speed ~68mph per trip odo, max trip speed of 85mph
- Payload: Driver Only
- Tonneau Cover Closed
- HVAC: Off
- Heated Seats/Steering Wheel: Off
- Outside temp: 33-48F / Clear & Sunny
- Preconditioned & charged to 100% prior to leaving

Starting Projected Range: 333 miles
Total Travelled distance: 304 miles
Remaining Charge: 5%, 17 miles
GoM Accuracy: ~96%

On a single charge, what's the farthest you've gone?
I got 308 miles with 20% battery at the end.
The best I have been able to do so far.
