I'm a Mach-E owner and member of the Mach-E forums, and inspired by @tonesto7 and others made an Android widget for my car. Over the weekend someone from this forum reached out to me about supporting the F-150. They'd tried my app with their truck and most things worked, but obviously since I wrote it specifically for my car some things didn't work. We've traded information a few times and last night I made some mods for preliminary support:

From a support standpoint, I see two hurdles immediately:
  1. Graphics. There are many variants of the F-150, and so far I've only located the free 2-door image above. I need help locating free images for those other variants. Otherwise everyone is stuck with the above image.
  2. Testing. There's only so much I can do without access to a truck myself to test new features. The easiest thing (for me) would be for some users to voluntarily let me sync my FordPass with their vehicle. This would just give me access to info on the vehicle, not access to anyone's Ford account. The alternative is for some tech-savvy users to capture JSON output and forward to me so I can use as test data.
I plan to commit a version in the next day or two, and I'll post here that happens.
If you ever get bored there are guys over at the Bronco6G sister site (myself included) that would love an app like this for their Broncos or in my case my future Bronco.

Sideload install was easy. Lock/unlock function works great. This is awesome! Thank you!

Few issues/questions:
  1. Can the vehicle be turned off? Double clicking the power button started the truck, but double clicking again does not turn it off. What if I accidentally double press the start button when I'm away from my truck
  2. Looks like my vehicle graphic is using the back of the Mach-E? Mine's a supercab.
  3. Percentage bar at the bottom not working?
  4. FordPass app reports 92 miles DTE and 1,749 miles ODO
  5. What does the Bell icon do/mean?
  6. What does the 'X' button (lower left) do/mean?
Pixel 6, Android 12

  1. The widget won't let you turn the car off. I decided on this for safety reasons, since I can't tell if the car is in motion.
  2. Yes, that's weird. It also has the Mach-E front end. I'm trying to reproduce that one.
  3. There is code to support the progress bar for the fuel tank, but I've not been able to get consistent data to test it. Sometimes it seems to work, other times not. Same for the range estimate above it.
  4. The API gives the odometer in kilometers, as an integer. In my conversion to miles, I round up.
  5. That's the alarm setting. Green is armed, red unarmed, red with a Z deep sleep.
  6. You can assign it to launch another app (like Waze). Look for "Choose Linked Apps" in the three dot menu.

Mine is also displaying the Mach-E rear with a crew cab front (crew cab is correct).

Overall, outstanding widget! Thanks!

I wasn't aware the Bronco worked with FP, but that makes sense. Like with the F-150, the main things I'd need would be samples of JSON data, plus CAD images.

Thanks, I will ask around. Someone has already worked on an Apple app so they may have some of the JSON data.

The image posted here reminded me to let everyone know: if you want to post a screenshot, there's an option under settings to hide your location info. Turn it off, take the screenshot, turn back on. ?

Hello All,

If you’re an Android user and are having issues with the reliability of Phone as a Key, first check that battery optimization is not turned on and you have selected the option “allowing the battery to be used in the background without restrictions” for FordPass in your device’s settings. Please refer to your device’s help resources for more specific instructions, as these steps may vary depending on the make and model of your Android smartphone.
Huh? Fairly certain "Phone As Key" doesn't work with F-150s. Is this a thing?

Not on mine. And, the fact that they're are real reliability issues make me happy it isn't!

FoMoCo deleted their post. No Phone As Key function with our trucks anyway.
