Here's the route I'm looking at to drive my truck back from out of state. No transports are willing to pick it up for a reasonable price since the dealer is quite remote and the terrain is, well, see below:

There are no chargers available between those stops, a distance of 224 miles. Temps are supposed to be in the 40's. It's an ER, but I'm still worried given all the elevation changes. My brother said we could haul it back with his truck, he's got a 1 ton Ram something or other, but a uHual can only handle a little over 5000lbs. Any thoughts?

It would be helpful to know where the 2 charging stops are that are 224 miles apart.

An ER can make that distance, provided the weather cooperates. But you'll have to be at 100% when you leave the first stop.

Did you put the trip into A Better Route Planner?

Speed you are going to be going? Weather, other than those temps? Headwinds? If you don’t start into that leg maintaining 1.71 mi/kWh, turn around. I think you’ll make it OK if you drive wisely.

The first stop is a small town utility charger, 2 stations at 63kW or 120kW if only one. Seems to get good ratings on PlugShare. The second is an EA site, 1 of 5 stations covered in a pile of snow, seems like 2 are usually functional.

Weather is projected to be clear, I assume due to elevation it'll be windy but not sure what the avg winds are in that area. I'll look that up.

If you keep the speed down you should be fine.

Talked it over with my brother this morning, looks like next weekend is going to be easier as far as getting off work to make the trip. Cooler temps and possibility of inclement weather so we are planning on trailering it. Now the fun of finding a trailer to handle the weight.

Thanks again for the advice, I'll be making a similar trip with it in a month, although with more charging stations available at least. :)

I say go for it! It will be an adventure for you and your brother.
You will make up allot of energy on the back side of that first hill.
Just give yourself some back Level 2 chargers if you need to limp to one but I but you wont need it!
We drove our XLT SR 825 miles after picking it up. EA all the way back plus a hotel charger overnight.
Then drove my PRO 360 miles after picking it up.
Relatively flat terrain in cool weather averaged 2 mi/kw.
But my experience is these trucks are well insulated so I barely used any heat. (we don't even have heated seats or Steering wheels).
Just leave the dealer with 100%

The weather is what has me worried or I'd go for it. Even if it was summer with warmer temps would help convince me. I guess another option is to get the trailer and have my brother follow with it in case I can't make it. You're 100% that would be an adventure!

What tools have you used to plan the trip? A Better Route Planner? Going slower extends range, and it will tell you that.

I've only used PlugShare, didn't know A Better Route Planner could do that. I (incorrectly) assumed it was more or less similar to what PlugShare had. I'll check that out tonight. Thanks!

Pulling 4 tons in winter over the mountains. Sounds exciting.
Ha, yeah not my area of expertise. My brother does this a fair bit and much more experienced. I trust him if it comes down to that. Y'all got me mulling over throwing caution to the wind and seeing what happens :D

I have a vivid memory of using a UHaul car hauler in winter, those trailer surge brakes makes stopping quite interesting if it is slick.

I would cost a bit more, but you could plan on driving, but also have your brother with the trailer traveling with you. Just in case.
