Priority Update: 22-PU0930-RBA-CHM: Frunk Chime Vol, SOC digits

For those of you that don't know...someone figured out how to silence the external frunk beeping. Here is the video:



I did mine in about 45 minutes, and a good 5-10 minutes of that was just unloading/loading the crap I store in my frunk. You will need a torx head bit, I believe it is T45. Other than that, a drill or socket set is all that is required.

That will at least fix the exterior chimes. Don't think it will help with any crazy warnings inside the cab.

To me, exterior beeps don't bother me. It's the constant alert tones inside that do. Also, they are all the same, with the exception of the tailgate being slight faster-paced.

all it takes is one idiot to sue because they say they didn't get a warning the frunk wasn't closed or that is was opening or closing. all the beeps are for those idiots and sue happy people in this world.

This is a common take for things like this. But a louder or more insistent chime will not prevent any lawsuits, and whatever lawsuits there are will probably be settled whether the volume is increased or not.

In my opinion (since Ford hasn't said, we have to guess) it's more likely this was done as a term of a settlement rather than as a proactive guard against lawsuits.

Anyway... Disable updates and you won't get this!

THIS is what should have been in the update notes and the frunk chime the easter egg. Missed opportunity for some positive feedback on Ford's part. Gotta be some low level engineering in Ford with a big red mark on his forehead after the higher ups chose to go with the chimes being louder.

They (and other software developers - an illustrious club that I hesitate to mention being a member of) don't need any encouragement for leaving changes out of patch notes. Anybody distributing software patches that isn't forthcoming about what changes do is fully deserving of customers who refuse to install the updates.

I would certainly hope that they would mention any security changes in particular. Since if they bundle something security related in with a $^#&ing Frunk volume increase there are going to be lots of people driving around with a security hole in order to avoid being annoyed by beeps.

Half of their problem is they shouldn't stop the frunk from closing just because you've taken the truck out of park. Finish the close regardless of Park or moving to drive. I've experienced it. Louder beeps is just annoying, don't be so short sighted to stop the close and have a need for a notification. You truly have to question the brain power behind these decisions.

TIL - you can shift out of park with the frunk open. Really? Seems like the truck should not even allow that without a manual override option on the screen. I think too many of the features and issues of this truck are being held back by all the legacy crap of a cobbled together system...

Usually on the front end of these releases, but had no indication on this one until I just went to the truck to check. Actually says it is downloading. The truck is or should be connected to Wifi, but I'm surprised as I thought downloads seem to be almost excluding on Cellular.

Maybe they are making some headway for a change and getting downloads over Wifi working.

I've (previously) had it work on both wifi and cellular. This was the first update that had requirements (like the vehicle to be off).
