TIL - you can shift out of park with the frunk open. Really? Seems like the truck should not even allow that without a manual override option on the screen. I think too many of the features and issues of this truck are being held back by all the legacy crap of a cobbled together system...
I’ve had two cases where my Tesla front or rear latch sensors failed where it would claim it’s unlatched even though it’s actually latched. I really don’t want a 5 cent sensor having too much say over actual driving policy.

I don’t see much of a problem if I want to start backing out of a parking space or slowly moving in a parking lot as the frunk is closing. Enough of the nanny stuff!

an R1T dude was stranded in the middle of his vacation and had to be towed a long distance because truck wouldn’t move due to truck thinking Frunk is not closed. And Rivian service centers are often not too close. At least we can move it at 35 mph.

Are these rolling updates? I've never gotten one on my truck, just want to make sure nothing is wrong.

which model & year do you have?

if you have big screen, the user interface update is nice if you don’t have it.

otherwise your not missing any significant safety updates. So drive on.

ford isnt helpful with info - ”we release in groups of vins, blah blah blah”

(833) 389-0848 OTA dept. (Have vin) ask them if there are update campaigns for your truck.

be patient.
you can ask dealer to update. keep in mind this experience differs amongst dealers. Ford discourages warranty reimbursement to dealer for updating. ford Says it will just come along.

I suffered this phrase. Ugh. 😩

also dealer doesn’t see update names like we do.
for example I just got 22-PU0930-RBA-CHM - this is a group of module updates and the dealer sees a list of available module updates not our friendly name.

It's a 2023 Pro model. I'm guessing I don't have anything update wise yet, as my truck was never a dealer model or anything like that, and when I try to update it says nothing is available. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something though

Even the full patch notes don't mention the SoC improvement...good grief...

I applied the scientific method to the Power Update voodoo Ouija Board. It just installed on an UPDATE NOW after many failures.

  • Preparation: Turn everything off and walk away a couple times with truck ON to charge 12V from its typical 12.3V-12.5V comfort zone. It's now 12.7V, time to try the update! FAIL - "Hi! We need your help to install..."
  • Oops, didn't actually turn headlight switch to OFF from AUTO. FAIL - "Hi! We need your help to install..."
  • Oops, make sure Parking Brake is engaged FAIL - "Hi! We need your help to install..."
  • Wait! Is the key fob or iPhone too close? FAIL - "Hi! We need your help to install..."
  • I know! Hinky 2 bar WiFi location, parked next to garage. Move truck to next to house within six feet of wifi router. FAIL - "Hi! We need your help to install..."
  • Morning 2, 12V battery sagged down to 12.5V, repeat start and charge procedure, yield = 12.8V! FAIL - "Hi! We need your help to install..."
  • Next attempt, plug in truck, "UPDATE SUCCESSFUL Check out what's new!" Although, we're not going to tell you we added a little SoC reading that you've been wanting.

Maybe next time, I'll just plug in the truck and do this crap in reverse order. It's scheduled for its one-year well baby checkup in August. I'm going to try to talk them into a new 12V LVB.

Mine is a 2023 Pro. Unless you just got your truck, you should have some updates. If you haven't...unplug and replug the 12v negative cable. That will refresh your modem (in case your truck still has the modem issue).

Mine is a 2023 Pro. Unless you just got your truck, you should have some updates. If you haven't...unplug and replug the 12v negative cable. That will refresh your modem (in case your truck still has the modem issue).
I got mine in the beginning of May, so it's fairly new but not brand new. I have previously unplugged the 12v cable when I changed out the steering wheel, but that was a month or two ago at this point.

Usually on the front end of these releases, but had no indication on this one until I just went to the truck to check. Actually says it is downloading. The truck is or should be connected to Wifi, but I'm surprised as I thought downloads seem to be almost excluding on Cellular.

Maybe they are making some headway for a change and getting downloads over Wifi working.

The download finished last night. Two failures since then. Will drive to lunch and reset the BMS again.

Lightening icon could be flashing during charging and power info should be shown exactly the same way that regen info is showing bellow ( in text and green bar) for the sake of consistency. Come to think of it, the word Range is kinda useless (unless we have a rental car screen mode for first time users). It could be permanently removed. During charging it could show estimated range on top and number of minutes to 80% bellow the arrow (you could change this % in settings). Charging time and energy loaded to the battery could show at 6 o’clock space. The battery temp in numbers could show next to where battery temp bar is located. Inner bar of the blue battery bar could show battery health (should be 100% for most of us at this point). If I was doing this for real, I would look at ODBii data and see what is interesting and pull those that are relevant into an advanced area to the right of this. Have it blank by default but allow user to turn it on in settings.
