Does it general happen when you are charging or attempting to charge?
none of the errors happens when charging or attempt to charge.
The times it happens is always when the truck is parked and has plenty of charge. >50%

charging for this error was completed like hours prior.

I charge up to 90% typically.

Got my first POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER fault this morning at 5,500 miles. Shifted into reverse and the cluster lit up like a christmas tree. Was capped at 60% power and 1PD was disabled, causing me to roll back down the driveway. Stopped and restarted it a few times, seemingly working fine now, just with the service icon in the bottom right of the cluster. Only thing I can think of is that I shifted and commanded power too quickly before the system was ready to provide it, which is worrying because it was already warmed for departure and should have recognized any issues before I did.

If this becomes a common occurrence I'll lose faith in the truck. Dealers around me sadly still know nothing about these things. Service message is really telling me to let them fumble around with it for 2 weeks without a loaner just for them to tell me they can't replicate the issue. @Ford Motor Company

Figure it's worth asking, anybody else in the CT area go through a module replacement and can recommend a dealer? Monaco is looking like the most promising but I know they send their trucks out to another site for BEV service.

Update: Battery arrive and was swapped out, now another failed module - ordering next module and waiting prob another two weeks. There has got to be a better way. Saw @Phineas Magliozzi waited 10 weeks! totally unacceptable!
Second battery has arrived to dealer. It took half the time to get there compared to the first battery. Can't be worked on until Monday at the earliest as the tech that is trained to do the work is out until Monday..... Monday make a month at the dealer.

@Ford Motor Company This is clearly a somewhat large issue. Ford should proactively be stocking replacement batteries and other parts at the dealerships and get more techs trained on the issues.

Do other EVs have these problems? This is why the general public is losing faith in EVs. If the truck works fine its amazing, waiting for weeks at a time for repairs is going to make people hesitant to get rid of their ICE vehicles.

Update: No issues on the way home, and the wrench icon on my screen disappeared without intervention. Called the Ford BEV team and explained what happened. Rep essentially told me it might've been a glitch from shifting too quickly and to just keep an eye on it. They agreed that a dealer likely wouldn't be able to replicate and would just result in me losing my vehicle for some time. They opened a case anyways and actually gave me a direct contact email to follow up with in case there's any issues. Said they'd help me find a dealer and help in getting a loaner if needed. They also reminded me of the numerous standing CSPs against my VIN, and told me that they saw that an update for my truck failed yesterday afternoon despite me never getting a notification about it (latest I received was PU 23-PU0724-DOM-RS on 10/13). Fordpass shows I have automatically updates enabled daily at 1 AM but the truck shows None and I can't toggle the Automatic Update slider.

TLDR: Ford BEV team/support is getting better, software still sucks.

At a minimum you want to know which codes were set with the wrench coming on. Any dealer and I would think the BEV team too can see them, they get up loaded to their cloud system. That should help them diagnose what happened without having to recreate it.

The majority of the SW releases do not require the truck to be inoperable during their install. They can and should install at any time. The schedule you note at 1 AM only applies to the releases that require your truck to be parked and not being operated. There have only been one or two of those type releases in 2 years.

The reason for the failure is more than likely low SOC of your 12 v battery which is discussed in several different threads.

Some of the folks who have been looking up our VIN's have mentioned that recent failures are not related to the 12V and are essentially out of our control. Early updates did fail for low SOC on the 12V though, so it's always something to consider.

Correct -6.3 and 6.4 are both problematic other than 12 v SOC.

Update:

Lemon-lawed the beast. Dropped it off at the dealer today and picked up my check. Drove 60 miles to a dealer that tried harder and bought another one. Same damn truck except this one was made 11 months after the first one. So yeah, I'd recommend it to others, if anyone is asking.

the 2.7 ecoboost XL rental is not cutting it for me.
Oh my god this is me right now! This thing is terrible, and the one they gave me has that GD vague cig smell (cause they have unsuccessfully tried to cover) that every rental car has...gross
I'm sure I won't get any updates today...I can see they tried to charge it yesterday and left it plugged in all day and night, and it faulted at some point.

I got the dreaded "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" Alert at around 950 miles on the odometer. I had the code pulled prior to dropping it off at my local dealership which was Code: U3513 - High Voltage System Interlock Circuit 'B' Low. I have not had any power drop yet. Very disappointing.

2023 Platinum Lightning with under 1k miles

What does this code usually mean? What usually needs to be replaced?
I just wanted to update everyone. They replaced 2x wire harnesses and some control boards including the high voltage battery cable assembly. Took 3 weeks to get it done.

My 2022 Lariat (Purchased new in February 2023) has a "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power" alert. I have 13203 miles on it. It stopped charging last night and I had it towed to the dealer.

Has anyone else had this issue?
If so, what was the fix and how long did it take?

I appreciate the help.

Had my truck for one week and got the powertrain malfunction/ reduced power message.
Now it won’t charge and my dealership only has one licensed tech and is three weeks out.

I Checked my 12v terminals, any other ideas?

Wait a day and see if the condition resolves, have you had any alerts of updates attempting or recently posted? BTW, what is your current SOC, looks to be very close to 100% and power available to motors is not restricted.
