Even the Service Advisor can easily see the codes set by looking at your VIN. They get a very nice display by day on the truck comms and codes.
Let's just say, I'm a little frustrated.

Since I bought the truck, I got to drive it for 2 days. It has been back in the shop for a week and we don't have the cause of the problem identified yet.

So assuming that the first set of packs are possibly faulty… does that mean that in time that my whole pack will eventually be replaced? Module by module…

I don’t think it’s a universal failure like that. I think they had a quality problem with a small percentage of cells. Each module has a bunch of cells, and a single bad cell is enough to condemn the module. There are some high-mileage examples on this forum that have had a module or two replaced, but I’ve never seen more than that.

My optimistic side is telling me they’ll fail early or not at all.

At a certain point, we may see recycled modules too.

Truck is done and all fixed. They are charging it to 100%, running a battery test and then calling me to pick it up (hopefully today).

We don't know, but you could guess possibly. One user has had 3 modules replaced. Many of us only 1. Since Ford won't disclose the problem, we are just left to guess.

Don't be fooled though. They know the problem or they wouldn't be able to estimate 4%. I need to re-read that statement they put out too. I don't know if it was 4% of the trucks (with multiple failures) or 4 percent of the modules in the trucks. They are skewing the number with 4% when trucks do go in multiple times.

Quoting from CSP23B57:
Less than 4% of the affected vehicle population is expected to require one or more high voltage battery modules needing to be replaced.

🙁

Exactly my point… this maybe a moot point since I already had “one” replaced. However the “or more” part of that sentence bothers me.

You have a 8 year/ 100K warranty with no possibility of extending that warranty. Assuming you replace a module after the warranty, you only have 12 months warranty on that new/refurbished module from Ford which at the moment is ~$10K per module replacement.

I have been driving and owning EVs since 2016. This just worries me and rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

Is there a reference you could quickly point me to?
I'm under the impression that the 8/100k continues for the pack as a whole.

The replacement module should be 100% factory new, it's impossible to deconstruct a module and replace defective cell, I base this belief on @MickeyAO statements.

You are correct, but I stated after the warranty not during.

I also stated refurbished since in the distant future they might not produce the pack anymore or it would be a 3rd party company offering some sort of cell or module replacement.

It’s a waste to trash/recycle the whole module for a bad cell. So that why I think in the future it will be “refurbished” in some way. This obviously poses some sort of legal issue too. However there are already companies breathing new life into older bad packs or modules. Some of which exceed the OEM specs.

Sorry about the oversight, I got caught up in the other aspect of cell serviceability, tunnel vision bites my ass once again...............

As they are currently, these modules can't be torn apart, period, but future new revised designs might be cell level serviceable, but as of now, that is not possible, maybe we will have blue cruise 4.1 by then too.:crazy:

So for those that got theirs repaired by no software update, what if anything have you noticed after the repair? Weird charging? Not the full battery available? Not 100% power? Anything?
