Hi all, just purchased a 2024 Lightning Lariat. Took the credit for the home charger, so now shopping for one. I noticed the receptacle in the Ford is the CCS1 configuration. Hence, I believe I need a home charger that has the CCS1 plug, correct?

Looking at a few threads, it appear the Chargepoint Home Flex is a good quality, reliable charger. I will place the charger outside. BUT - I can’t seem to figure out if the Chargepoint Home Flex has a CCS1 plug? Am I missing something?

The Ford charge station Pro has what looks like a CCS1 configuration but the DC pins are for bidirectional i.e. back up power for your home if you buy the other additional equipment to allow for that. Using it for home charging I believe it just uses the round portion which is what the J 1772 will fit into kind of like the Mobile charger connector if you have that. When you are on the road and need to fast charge the CCS1 is for DC pins are for fast charging hope that helps!

No. Any J1772 EVSE will charge your truck.

Other posts are correct all you need is a J1772.

As far as chargers go I installed a Grizzl-E Ultimate 48A EVSE outside in Montana. I like the case all aluminum, made in Canada. It has been working great even at minus 39 degrees. About $379.0 right now.

I'm using the Grizzl-E Classic 40 Amp charger without wifi. It can be ordered with either a NEMA 6-50 plug in cable, or a NEMA 14-50 plug in cable and has a 3 year warranty. It works very well in cold and hot weather.

The Chargepoint Home Flex uses a J1772 , which is perfect for home charging the Lightning. CCS1 is for DC fast charging at public stations, you can also charging in public stations.

The two round ports are used for DC Fast Charging (DCFC) and for Ford's Home Integration System to provide Vehicle to Home power which is why they're usually covered. Level 1 or Level 2 AC charging is done through the main round port with the multiple pins which is your J1772. You are better off, IMO, to go with a charger with a J1772 since it will be compatible with the vast majority of EVs on the market now. Do not go with the Ford Charge Station Pro unless you plan on going with the home integration.

If you wanted to 'future proof' yourself, you could go with the Tesla Universal Wall charger which has a NACS to J1772 adapter built into it. As manufacturers will be moving towards the NACS port going forward, it will give you usage today and tomorrow.

I am personally installing a Chargepoint Home Flex with a J1772 handle right now. Given that the Chargepoint is somewhat modular, it should be possible for them to release a NACS handle in the future and I can simply swap out the J1772 when the time comes.

Tesla Universal or the Emporia would be my picks if I where to do it over again.

I have a ChargePoint and it has been solid. 60 amp breaker so 48amp charging @ ~ 11ish Kwhr. I got it new from someone on eBay for $350.
Edit- no DC connection, so not a CCS, it is j1772. See pic below

I went with the Tesla universal charger, because it will also work with any future electric vehicle I get. Last I heard, most manufacturers will be switching their 2025 model year vehicles to the NACS connector. Plus, if you ever add a second electric vehicle and get a second Tesla wall charger, both wall chargers can get programmed to limit their current draw when in simultaneous use to not overload your breaker panel. My wife has an electric car, and our electrician said it was nice because there was no extra wiring or parts needed. Both chargers communicate through our wifi and will operate at peak charging when one vehicle is charging or a programmed limit if both are charging.
