All,
I’ve had nothing but a nightmare getting the home integration system (HIS) setup and to actually work. Ford has been useless, Sunrun useless, and Delta can’t do anything and they all point fingers at each other.

The last straw for me was when Ford closed the ticket stating someone will contact me at an unknown time by an unknown person via an unknown method….they can’t help as it’s a known issue.

I have read on here that I’m not the only one experiencing this ‘known issue’, therefore I’m invested in getting at least 39 others who have purchased the HIS and cannot get it to work as advertised to join my class action lawsuit.

Please let me know if you are interested, have comments, or know someone that might be.

I don’t know if it would help but maybe reach out to Tim at “State of Charge” that’s his YouTube channel. He is very knowledgeable on this. He has done a whole video on this system. He has a lightning. Tim has flown out to people who have had different issues and has helped out. At least worth a email or call to him.

Every single person who bought one of these dumpster fire systems should absolutely band together, hire a good attorney, and very publicly sue Ford and Sunrun. These corporations have ZERO motivation to do better because there are zero consequences to doing horrible. Ford will tell every one of you "sorry we know it's dysfunctional junk, ticket closed" until it starts costing Ford money and PR.

Easy for me to say since I don't own one. So all I can do is be livid on your behalf.

Here’s another YouTuber who has made a number of videos on it. I think she’s on this forum from time to time as well. If you go to the 5 minute point in this video she’s describing her own latest woes with the system and how it relies on Bluetooth communication to function.

Hey! That’s me!

Yes, it’s me. I currently don’t have a functional system because our FCSP is dead due to a failure in the Siemens unit. I have a replacement but Ford wants an electrician to install it and they’re not available until 10/9.

The FCSP issue right now is the truck goes into deep sleep and the Bluetooth never hears if the power goes out. So it never automatically turns on.
Apparently there’s a fix on the way.

I haven’t talked to @tommolog recently about his (whose system is doing well afaik) but he and I have both made plenty of videos about ours.

I will join your lawsuit. It is now 2 years that I have been wrangling with the same duo (Ford and SunRun) to get our system working.

It is true. It relies on Bluetooth to communicate. Here is the problem. Without power there is no Bluetooth link between your phone, the truck and your WiFi. Can’t find the station. Can’t use the system. I have an Enphase system and all my correspondence with Enphase over the last couple years have yielded nothing other than we are working on it and have a solution soon.
Best solution, Pro Power Onboard, energize the bed and run extension cords. SunRun has many problems to solve with their solar installations. This was a nightmare for Ford from the beginning. Everyone had to show that their EV trucks can do that function. Power up homes thru their exclusive and proprietary devices. When you hire Siemens to built a subpar charger unit that barely works and hire SunRun to install it and service it, you will be asking for this kind of treatment. Ford is helpless, SunRun doesn’t know what to do and in the meantime you will get the wait for ever treatment until we resolve it. My case issue with Enphase is still open since last year.
Whatever your opinion about Tesla is, their systems are not an afterthought.
The relationship between Ford and Siemens, was and still is an afterthought. Ford hired SunRun to install the system and distributed from their warehouse in CA. When I called them to ask to ship my Pro Power charger, they wanted to sell me a solar installation system. No thank you.

I would join the suit. The system has not been reliable. I just never know if it is going to work. It was a large reason that I purchased the Lightning.

At one point in time I was interested in this, several years back when I heard about the Lightning, and the supposed ability to feed a house in the event of a power failure. But then came a new Roof on the house, and decided to 86 the old solar system due to the fact that it was NOT compatible with a Solar Battery B/u system. New Roof, New Expanded Solar system w/battery B/u, now no need for the home integration system. Sometimes the God's look out for me. Sounds like a can of worms . . . while sitting on the dock with a fishing pole . .
Oh and I agree, gather together, and put it out there for ALL TO SEE, maybe then @Ford Motor Company & Sunrun will get their act together....

I haven't purchased it because it doesn't work however it was the main reason I purchased the lightning instead of a Rivian. I wonder if that qualifies me to join?

Enphase system here as well, and we JUST went through the horrific hurricane mess up here in Asheville, Western NC.
The extension cords and pro-power on board we worked like magic. Managed to help lots of folks as well.
I have the components for the enlighten sunlight islanding features, (smart-switch, cut-off, load controller,) but haven't had them installed yet.
Wish I'd had them running during this outage, I could have gone nearly to indefinitely. Charging through solar array during day, using truck at night. Just isn't automatic.
My actual hope is to see the damned directional Enphase charger drop...but that company is Molasses.
Anyhow, sorry for hijacking the thread. For sure folks should seek justice for this shit show, indeed.

Mechanic for American Airlines. GSE (ground equipment) 37 years. Worked on everything from Lawn mowers to Boeing 747's.
This is where the Generlink BPTM would be ideal. Just plug into the external power meter on the house. TESCO has one that works with the Lightning. But won't sell them to outside of PG&E customers. And still no word from GENERLINK. Sheesh! What a mess.

My Lightning is supposed to go in tomorrow for service and receive some updates per the service tech, including the gateway module which @Jim Lewis mentioned being part of the HIS fix. I asked them to perform the TSB related to the HIS but I do not know if they will (I'll ask them again tomorrow). If you pull up my thread on this TSB, I explained how the system was acting in my most recent test and have not tried any tests since.

In my 2 years with the truck, and 1.5 with the HIS, my experience has been unsatisfactory, while it physically can work, it never has as advertised. I have never had an actual automatic transfer during a real outage. I've had to manually fiddle with the truck or the FCSP in some way to get it to transfer during outage, and one time i was unable to get it to transfer at all. This has caused me to not trust the system and test it monthly by shutting the main breaker to the house. A few times it has worked during testing, but usually something is hung up with the FCSP and it needs to be rebooted in order to function as required for the transfer. This is disappointing since it does not help with my intended use of reliable power for my wife and kids at home when I am at work during storms.

This and the frunk were the main reasons I considered the Lightning, having never been a pickup truck driver in the past i figured this would fit the bill and could replace a propane generator at home. Those systems are fool proof so i figured they'd be able to make this at least WORK. But here we are, and things are getting worse not better.

Another thing we were promised that has not come to be is app based control and monitoring. They actually removed the function from the app, and i have yet to see any ability to enable or disable the backup power function as advertised in the promotional materials.

I've had a good amount of correspondence with Ford and Sunrun since the system was installed. I've had to replace the FCSP once due to the network/Bluetooth module dying. The new unit still requires frequent reboots to keep online (a complex task with the HIS dark start battery), I've had Sunrun out multiple times, I have multiple e-mail threads with Ford BEV support and Sunrun, and have gotten the same "an update is coming someday soon" messaging.

With my most recent issue, calling into Ford BEV and explaining the problem, the CSR hung up on me and when I called back immediately, it went right to voicemail like they just punched out. If this week doesn't turn things around i'll be a willing participant and hopefully can provide some useful documentation to the lack of engineering assistance we have gotten as customers.

I can't be the only one that has gone thru all this, there must be others on here with similar stories. Maybe airing them out will get us some results from Ford.

The Sunrun team working on our HIS installation have been doing what they can to make it work, so I don’t bear them any ill will. They actually got ours working after nearly a year of visits (they completed install of the hardware, but couldn’t get the charger and the HIS equipment to talk; they finally got the system to work by disconnecting my 12V battery, letting the truck sit disconnected for twenty minutes, then reconnecting the 12V and doing the HIS setup process again), but for unknown reasons the HIS settings disappeared from the truck one day, and I couldn’t get them restored myself. The truck just would not detect the charger during HIS setup; I tried pulling it right next to the charger as I’d seen the Sunrun techs do (which still seems ridiculous, but whatever it takes, right?). Anyway Sunrun had to come back out and spent a couple of hours messing with the charger and my truck; they finally got settings restored by disconnecting and reconnecting the 12V battery again; they also fiddled with the modem, which I guess is behind the back seat. While grateful, my response after all of this was there’s no way I’m signing off on this hot mess because it’s clearly not reliable and isn’t functioning as advertised on those Ford commercials showcasing the system How this got past quality assurance continues to baffle me.
