Hey all,

This past Friday, my dealer sent mobile service to update and resolve the front sensor issue. I did notice he didn't hook up power to the 12v until an hour into the update. It took about 2 hours for it to update. While the front sensor issues seem to be resolved, I have noticed the sensor beeps and cross-traffic alerts seem to be coming from a single lower-quality speaker instead of how they used to through the whole sound system. Also, whenever I park the truck, the center screen displays a message that it is shutting down to save power. Which makes me think the 12v battery is low. I threw a battery charger onto the 12v, which was a bit low. Still, even after fully charging it up, every time I turn it off, I get that system shutting down to save battery message, and it worries me because then I won't get any OTA updates, and I want the SoC update. Could the 12v battery have gone wrong? Any ideas?

If your mechanic drew down the battery for the updates, you may just need to charge it fully. It will take quite a while on a 4Amp charger, or about an hour driving.

I had to replace my 12v battery in my '23 Lariat already 6 months ago. Have you had the CSP 23B70 done on the Battery Monitoring System (BMS)? That was the cause for many warnings I was getting.

Charge it to 100% using your charger, let it sit overnight, and put a multimeter on it and check the voltage. If it won't hold a charge they could have killed the battery, but that seems unlikely unless they ran it all the way down to nothing.

Is the 12v battery covered under the 3 year warranty?

Had the CSP 24B56 work done on my '23 Lariat ER today by my local dealer. Now I'm also having 12V battery issues. All four times I've started the truck post-module updates, it's had the "System Off to Save Battery" message on the Sync4a screen. Also, no cabin lights, an empty dashboard, and loud start-up chime before driving. I checked my voltage before and after a 33 minute drive (fourth trip today) and the battery charged by about 0.13V during that time. Anyone know what the 12V battery needs to be to for the BMS to consider things "normal?"

If things don't go back to normal within the next day or two, I'm taking it back in.

I’ll jump on this thread too. Same 12V battery issues here too. After a week of commuting 100+ mile round trips, it’s still the same. I can see in the notes from my visit that the battery was tested and passed before the update so I know it was good prior. I’ll make a service appointment and see what they say.

Before your next commute do the BMS reset procedure and then see if that helps.

Press the start button without putting your foot on the brake to put the truck in Accessory mode.

Flash the high beams 5 times with the stalk.

Step on the brake pedal 3 times, and watch the instrument cluster for the red battery icon to flash 3 times.

Press the start button to shut the truck back off. Pause.

Start the truck as normal and go for a drive.

See if that helps.

If it doesn't, make an appointment with the shop to get your 12V battery tested and probably replaced under warranty.

Thanks for this tip! My truck is at the dealer now and they tested the battery and said it failed so they will replace it under warranty. One weird thing, they said in my trucks log the battery has been low for a month, but I never had any symptoms before CSP-24B56. They are also going to replace the same BMS sensor they replaced for CSP-23B70. They are going to hold it over night to keep an eye on it and then drop it off tomorrow.

Glad to hear you got a new battery and BMS under warranty. My Power Save issues seem to have gone away (at least for now) on their own without doing a BMS reset. Posted a few more details here.

Good to see an actual Ford 12v solve, talked to our service manager locally when ours started throwing warnings and not starting - he said 12v is common issue but Ford makes them put it on a Ford tester that does the pass/fail and they usually pass until they are in really bad shape.

Apparently not unique to Lightnings, we rented a Jeep on vacation with start/stop and it has two batteries. Wouldnt start, the CAA guy showed up said he boosts these new vehicles all the time.
