I happened to have my truck in today for something else and this popped up a day or two ago on my app. I had them apply this software update. It took multiple hours, killed the original 12V battery, the dealership replaced the 12v under warranty, drained the new 12v, recharged the new 12v and kept it on a battery tender to get the update complete. Just passing along my experience. I had not had any issues related to this prior that I was aware of. My 12V was less than 2 years old.
I scheduled mobile service to come fix my camera screen size this week because it was the ‘small’ size and do a recall on the front trunk latch. I also had an issue with ‘my key’ not being configurable because of a software glitch. Long story short, when the tech was updating the camera configuration, he noticed the other modules were not really updated. He had to get approval from the service manager to reapply this CSP. He apologized for the previous tech and spent all day at my house applying this update, doing the recall, and spent hours on the phone with Ford diagnosing the glitch with ‘mykey’ which required updating multiple modules. This CSP and the recall work are complete and accurate including camera configuration. I can also configure ‘mykey’ controls but still have some buggy software issues (now documented with Ford). Bonus - walk away locks were enabled during the process. I still can’t figure out when this feature activates - it seems only in public locations, not my driveway.

If you are experiencing the camera issue, I would get verification they did everything else correctly. My first experience was a new 12volt battery and failed CSP configuration. Very poor service which was only redeemed by the mobile tech being completely honest and investing the time.

If a dealer 'Mobile' tech arrives at your location to perform any updates on your Lightning and you don't see a battery charger/powersupply being connected up before they start, you need to ask questions.

The tech may be assuming that like the ICE and Powerboost hybrids that have larger capacity 12V batteries that they can get away without using a powersupply like the instructions say. But not on a Lightning with a 36Ah 12V battery.

Cursed with the small 360 cam now

IMG_3449.jpeg

I'm not sure if i have the small 360 view display. Can you guys look at this snapshot and determine if i have the small display? This 360 pic isn't much wider than the volume knob, but i can't remember how the display normally looks.

Thanks.

Yours is normal. The only issue is on 22's where the dealer didn't follow directions so they're left with the black box around the image until it's either fixed in FDRS or FORScan.

Ahh... ok. I thought for sure that the 360 was bigger than that.

In fact, it doesn't look any bigger than @MichaelCA "s post that I quoted.

It was bigger but the update also changed the size and how the menu on the left was displayed so we're stuck with it. Maybe enough people will complain to Ford and they'll revert back to the previous since within the next decade.

Just had my front sensor CSP done on Monday. And the dealer apparently did not hook up a power supply to my 12v. Luckily I came in with 100% 12v charge. But when I picked it up it was very low. I was getting low battery warnings on the center screen, etc. after driving a couple days everything was back to normal. As for the front sensor update; I didn’t really notice any difference in the sensors kicking in as I pulled up close to my garage door. It still only starts beeping when I’m extremely close, which is kind of dumb in my opinion. My other vehicle (Toyota Highlander) starts the initial beeping like 4 ft away. However, I did notice that bluecruise is better able to to detect suddenly stopped traffic on the highway and brake sooner than it used to. So that’s a plus.

Is that a side effect? I noticed my steering felt a little different too but I thought maybe it was just in my head.
Power steering module gets reprogrammed as well. I noticed it almost immediately when I picked it up. Less of a center feel and the camber of the road pulls the steering differently. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but I liked the old power steering boost level.
I wonder if the FORScan gurus can find a setting to tweak???

Haven’t done update yet.
I prefer sport mode on 100% of time in my truck. Steering has a tighter feel and overall drive more enjoyable.

Wow I didn’t know this. Well that explains why it feels different to me. Yeah I definitely liked how it was before. More stiff.

I had the front sensor CSP update done last Thursday. As soon as I picked up the truck from the dealer, I noticed the vehicle wanted to go into battery saver mode when shutting down, and the LVB % SOC was only a few percent by Car Scanner. Hours of charging with a Noco Genius 2 charger or running the truck in full-accessory mode plugged into my FCSP could barely get the LVB % SOC reading into the teens.

However, I think the problem is not that the update trashed the LVB capacity (my dealer says they always use a power supply backup in flash programming, but the CSR couldn't tell me how big a rig!). If I read the LVB voltage across the jump points in the frunk, I get readings like 12.57V, 12.64V at 65F to 72F. That suggests the LVB is charged to 80% to 90%. Seems more likely that the update screwed up the BMS or its communication with other modules. Rather than trying to cure it myself by disconnecting the negative LVB terminal, etc., I'm just going to bring it back to the dealer this coming Thursday and let them figure it out. I've only driven the truck 47 miles since the update. Maybe if I drove much more, the issue would straighten itself out as it did for @MountainAlive. The customer service rep was pretty sanguine about the whole thing, pointing out that the battery on my 2023 was still under warranty and would be replaced at no charge if it got messed up. But the service tech(s) should have noticed the battery saver mode bit when they started it up after the update and not let the vehicle out of their shop until they figured out which way was up.

As a side note, when I shut down the vehicle, whether plugged into my FCSP or not, the vehicle will often try to recharge the LVB, as it should if the LVB % SOC is reported below 30%. The charging will run for many tens of minutes and inevitably stops without raising the Car Scanner LVB % SOC very much. Presumably, the BMS is sensing that little current is being input into the battery at the applied voltage of 14.5V that Car Scanner reports, and the charging mechanism eventually quits. Hopefully, these repeated attempts to charge an already well-charged LVB are not doing any permanent damage...

My understanding is that lead acid batteries last longer with a full charge.
