Reading this thread, and seeing the direction ford is going with software design all I can say is wow what a complete mess.. from trucks not updating, to a charge activation / location finding tool that locks out while driving... Does Ford actually have a cohesive team making software design decisions ? I came to this thread to see if this tool was super slow for everyone else... only to see the same issues from a year ago littered all over the thread. @Ford Motor Company

Maybe an option should be given so one can choose to live at a higher risk, by acknowledging that Ford assumes no risk if we de-activate safety features?
Brilliant...I wonder if any one else's safety might also be compromised? You know, other people on the roadway, sidewalks....We can all let you choose for us too!

Thanks. So, any idea how much driving is enough? I drove over 100 miles a few days ago. I would have thought that would be enough.
If you're not getting a notice that you have an update ready to install, I don't think that the battery will be an issue. I've never gotten any updates to show up at all and I've had my truck since May, driven it 2k miles within a week time period, nothing. Autoupdates are on, I've changed the time around, I plug it in every night, I've charged it up to 100% a couple of times, nothing makes any difference. For whatever reason some trucks just aren't getting the updates to show up and according to a few members on the forum, I have a ton of modules that show up on FDRS as ready to update.

Interesting. Would be nice if it could recognize any of the passes purchased for the various charging providers or allow you to purchase them through ford.
Its my understanding at least on EA you do get the Pass+ rates when charging via FordPass, I confirmed this with an agent at ford.

I don’t believe that’s true.

In my personal experience, this is not accurate. Full price when going through Blue Oval, even when I had the EA+ subscription. I had to be sure to start the charger through the EA app or tap, else I was over paying

yep, it seems very counter-productive for Ford's Blue Oval/FordPassApp to not pass thru the same charge 'rate' that you have already in place with the charge provider, such as Electrify America - I would 'assume' that when you have connected your account with Ford and EA, it would seemlessly provide the same rate.... but, I'm just assuming, and that's never gotten me too far : )

then again, this could also be a EA block, which might be because EA wants you to HAVE to use THEIR app for charging...

OK. So I have not gotten an update since June on my lightning pro. However, my wife’s XLT has been up-to-date the whole time.
Went for a drive today, and I got the latest update for the digital owners manual. However, I am still missing anything else that came in between, including the one that gives you the percentage on the display behind the steering wheel.
Now, maybe I’m starting to get the updates or it could be because I had mobile service out and he updated the body control module and the front trunk module. He tried to do others modules as well but they failed.
So maybe I just got this one or something he did triggered it to start working. But he came on Monday and this came Thursday afternoon, three days later.

This is really interesting. Many others all in the same boat, no OTA updates for 3 to 4 months. Almost starting to seem normal until you get some older SW updates installed via FDRS (along with some failures) and then boom, 3 days later you get an OTA.

Seems like Ford has some deeper digging to do and explaining as to why so many trucks aren't getting OTA's.

I wonder if @rugedraw would take a look at your VIN now and see what you have left in the queue and if those failures from the other day have cleared up?

I leave plug and charge on because it sometimes works when the EA app doesn't. Just activate through the app first before you plug in and you get the reduced rate.
Hey can you explain this more? I was under the impression you couldn't get the EA Pass+ discount if you use plug and charge... Thanks.

If you use the app to activate before plugging in, you get EA+ pricing. In that scenario it doesn't matter if you have plug-and-charge active, as it is already activated when you plug in.

I leave PaC active because if I get to a situation where the EA app doesn't work for some reason, I can use PaC to charge. Pay more, but get needed electrons.

Yup, exactly this. Has saved my bacon as well in Scranton PA when none of the chargers showed online in the app, but plug and charge worked. Getting to the next set of chargers would have been "interesting" as I was about 10 miles shy of range. Climate off and going 30 down the interstate to save range. Woohoo!

I heard some rumblings on Facebook. So I went and checked my trucks.

I have a SR PRO and my wife has an SR XLT

We both have the Sync 4 system and there is a new app called CHARGE ASSIST.
It integrates chargers from several different networks, some of which you can activate from the truck and pay for with your FordPass linked credit card.

Here are some screenshots of that.

Long day at work today, but I am going to go out and try it tomorrow and see if it actually works.

Some people say it is early access, but we are not in that program and it just showed up on our trucks and we didn't have any software updates recently.

Did this come to your truck as an OTA? I do not have this option on my truck.

Yes. It showed up after an update I believe. It’s been a while
