Failed twice for me. Let the truck run (idle) for 20 minutes... presumably charging the 12volt battery. Also, plugged it into the charger at that time. Then installed successfully. Not sure which one of those steps helped (plugging in or running the truck a few minutes)

After six failed installation attempts, including one immediately after a 30 min drive, I charged the 12V battery using the charging points on the passenger side of the frunk. Per OBD app, initial 12V SOC was 61%. I waited until the charger said the battery was fully charged. OBD app agreed, with final SOC of 100%. I did not reset the BMS - decided to try it this way since the BMS already saw the 100% SOC. Buttoned up the frunk, started the truck, then manually started the update, shut off the truck and shut the door, and 20 min later got the success message.

My theory is that by charging using the frunk charging points the BMS could monitor the current and voltage during the charging and “knew” the battery SOC had increased. I have no idea if that theory is correct. But this is another vote for the importance of 12V SOC for some of these updates.

Just pulled in the driveway from my daily commute home and it told me I would have an update installed tomorrow morning (I have it set to update right after I get to work). I rescheduled for immediate install and got the message about 20 minutes later that it was complete.

'23 Lariat that seems to get all the updates a few weeks behind the first time they get posted here.

I don't have a reliable way to check LVB SoC at the moment. But it was after a ~25 minute drive.

Same here. After my drive home from work saw there was an update. I chose to install now and it installed 20min later on the first try. 22 XLT.

I haven’t really been paying much attention to this thread, but the update queued up on my truck today. It’s supposed to install tonight per my schedule.

So I read the description and I’m just shaking my head.
”Displayed range has been adjusted to reflect what is possible with optimal driving practices.”

I just have to laugh. I’ve always preached “Ignore the GOM” and this nonsense just reinforces my belief.

It‘s like Ford said “Let’s give them a really big number so people quit bitching about range.”

Good luck, I‘m on day 10 of this update trying to install. But I agree this is pretty dumb. We got the DTE update last year, now the DET update both tweaking the GOM. So I’m not stressed about this update getting installed.

I always wonder if these descriptions are true but incomplete. If some engineer investigating a factory fire realizes that BMS has been charging HV battery under conditions that could set HV batteries on fire and Ford lawyer says, this could make my life difficult, would they include it in description? You can tell, in absence of facts, I like to entertain myself with conspiracy theories.

p.s. When update fails, I get a message on the app (“Help us install your new Ford Power-Up”) with a “update details” that take me to a web page that has nothing about details of this update. How do you guys get to a page that has EVERYTHING in details about this specific update?

Well, it failed! I‘m trying it manually now. It says the truck will be unavailable for 22 minutes. There has to be more to this update than just the GOM algorithm.

Edit - manual attempt also failed. I think I’ll just let it do its thing and ignore the failure messages.

Mine finally stopped trying to update and won't let me try to manually update anymore. Ford must have pulled the update.

I have the same situation - it shows “Not Completed” but no option to retry or manually update. I never got the manual update option. Just an update failed notification and this screen on sync.
Anyone had the update eventually come through after this screen?

After this update my GOM dropped the milage estimate at 85% from 272 down to 261. Yes it’s really hot here in Texas so I assume its because of that too.

Just got this last night. Truck hit charging target (85%) a little after 1am. Update occurred around 3:30am. Woke up and truck was attempting to charge to 100% (was around 93% when I checked) and I hit stop charging. That's rather annoying.

For others that had this happen, did you have to delete your location and recreate it to get the target to work again? Or is this a one and done bug?

I the past whenever Ford has updated the charging and battery modules it causes the truck to forget it's location and associated charge limit. Most folks have needed to delete the charge location and re-add it for the tuck to remember the limit again.

I wonder if this is an unintended or unavoidable side effect or if this is by design to force a full charge and re-calibrate the battery system after new software...

@Ford Motor Company ? Can you comment if this behavior is by design?

Got this one yesterday too and the same thing happened. I plugged in the truck after the update completed and it wanted to change to 100%. So I stopped it and started the truck up. Checked all the settings which were still in there and then shut it down and plugged back in. The truck started charging and recognized my location and preference of 50% target charge.

I haven't done anything yet, I'll leave it as is and see what happens next time I plug in. Thanks!

Updating my vote to NO, update offered but failing to install, I'm topping off the LVB with an external charger via the remote jumper posts, then will let her attempt another automatic install at 0100 hrs.
