When using the app to remote start / turn on the AC, do we know if there is any control from the app (iPhone in this case) other than a signal to say 'start' and the truck then decides what to start - heat or AC?

The problem / question is it is over 80 degres in TX these days and I've used remote start twice recently. Both times the truck has started the heater, and turned on the seats and steering wheel. I've double checked in the truck and all of the settings are set to Auto as they have always been. The first time inside the truck was probably 120 degrees and today it was in a parking garage, but still no way the truck should have thought it needed heat.

I only question the app as I'm running a beta, which I won't discuss any further, other than to say it is. I wouldn' t have expected this result though. The truck should handle what to do based on external temp. This second time I did check after the remote start and the app showed the heat, so I was able to adjust it and get it cooling rather than heating.

Anyone else experiencing the issue or is it isolate?

Isn’t there a setting where you can pick either “Auto” or “Last?”

Yes - it is in the truck and it is set to Auto. It has never failed to work correctly for almost 3 years. I double checked it is set to Auto. For the HVAC setting in the truck I had the temp set on 68 if that would have come into play in any manner.

My pass app allows me to set interior temp. And I have yet to have it heat when it should cool. Or cool when heat needed. The app also allows me to turn on/off seats (cool or heat), wheel heat, and defost.

Agree - my app will let me override, but for the most part I should never have to look at that if I just hit the start button and the truck should take over. I thought the app just let me override if I wanted. I still expect the truck to do the right thing if no further detailed overrides are done.

The app details have been added over the last year, it seems maybe they could be overriding the details in the truck.

To be honest, I would pull the 12v battery for a bit and see what happens.

Nothing to support that idea other than it "feels" like a computer not shut down type of bug...

You need to use the Fordpass climate panel (slide up) AFTER the truck starts either by manual remote or departure timed start.

This time of year, cold morning, I flip the heated seats on in the morning, then after the truck has been outside the garage sitting in the afternoon sun, it's like an Eze-bake oven, so then I need to flip off the heated seats and flip on the cooled seats mode.

Wash, rinse repeat daily until full summer has kicked in, then I just leave it on cooled seats mode.

Note this also applies to the steering wheel heat, I've switched it off on the sync screen and in the climate panel on Fordpass, next fall I'll flip them both on when it gets cold enough.

So now that we have that level of control in the app, the "Auto" settings in the truck really don't mean anything? The truck Auto would always do the right thing based on the outdoor temperature. From what you note and what I've experienced it seems those really don't mean much now.

It seems to be the case, I'm spoiled by the creature comforts in the Lightning, things I sorely missed in my 2012 F250 XLT .... cold cloth seats in a cold blooded PSD on frigid cold new England morning, glad those days are past and now I just need to pay attention to this fickle automation.

I just tried this on both iOS and Android. The Auto does seem to correctly set the heating or cooling, but heated seats and steering wheel is manually controlled. This screen capture taken after I manually started climate. Notice it tells what it is doing and if you click on that section, it lets you change any of those settings.

Same for me. Everytime I remote start the truck (or schedule departure) it will automatically adjust the temp/seats/steering wheel according to the current outside conditions.

One thing to possibly look at is what temp the truck thinks it is outside. These vehicles have temp probes that need air passing over them to be accurate. Look at the display when you start the truck, then drive, and watch the temp dramatically go up or down in the first few minutes.

FYI, seats and wheel are a separate setting from cabin temp under Remote Start. You may have those set to off.

Does anyone know if those settings are user-profile based, or global?
(Is there a way to link the Fordpass app to a user profile?)
My wife and I both have separate car profiles (which works pretty good when linked to our phones. We've not used the physical keys after the first week, unless we drop it off at the dealer). But she does *not* like heated seats, and I do.
So I always try and make sure to turn off the heated seats and wheel after using her truck, but sometimes I forget.

I've seen reports like this in FB groups recently. It seems like it is a new glitch
