I bought a 2024 Lightning Lariat, I really like the truck but I’m don’t understand why it doesn’t have an option to program a garage door opener???? Every car and truck I have had for the last 20+ years has had an option to program your garage door opener frequency so you don’t need to have a separate clip on opener to your visor.
Am I missing something here?

So you don’t have the home link buttons on the sun visor? Does the sun visor have lighted mirror?

I believe this was one of the deletes on the 24s and has been covered elsewhere on the forum with all the other deletes!

As long as your sun visor has a lighted mirror you can just buy a new visor that has homelink in it and it will be plug and play. If not then you’d just have to run a power and ground up to it which is easy enough. I did that when I had my XLT PB.

Cutting cost?! Terrible you go from XLT to Lariat for $30k you should get the built in opener. Well guess it’s just the leather seats for that price? 🤨

Seems like something Lariat should have, but to be honest, CarPlay (or the Android Auto equivalent I assume) is a better solution, or at least more secure. Opening the garage door is just as easy, button on the screen instead of on the visor, but it only works if your phone is present and connected. That way if someone breaks into your truck they don't also have access to your garage.

Or does the HomeLink thing only work when the key fob is present? That'd be just as secure

Lighted mirror, add Homelink module (Ebay) to visor for $30 - $40.

I'm thinking of just sticking my opener to the top middle where the sunglass holder is with double sided tape. I have Chamberlain openers and work of their iQ app as well. The app hasn't failed me yet in the 3yrs I've had them installed.

Take a look at the other threads. Someone has figured that with a wiring adapter that one can swap a Tundra (used on a bunch of other trucks to) homelink mirror in place of our mirror. It is a 5 minute swap that's rather clean that you can swap back at any time without any damage.

I just received my setup in the mail. Once I get my knee surgery and am back to walking/driving I will swap the mirrors out and program my garage doors for my house and the fire station into my truck.

I got a new mirror with homelink from bobsmirrors.com it was a simple unscrew torx, plug in new mirror and reinstall screw process. As long as you have a self dimming mirror with the plug, if not they have battery operated versions too.
shame they de-content the vehicle so much in the later years, but at least we have heat pumps now I suppose.
