Also remember it is called collision avoidance, not collision impossible. It is certainly possible to simply Leroy Jenkins into whatever situation you want even with the safety systems enabled.

And it's only compounded by the amount of instant torque that EV's have compared to most (not all) ICE vehicles.Similar incident happened here in NC at my daughters gym a year or two back, Tesla Model 3 parked in a spot in front of the gym, driver hit the accelerator and drove through the front wall / window. She swore she hit the break, I can't say for certain what she did but it's unlikely. Same here my guess is they were in one pedal mode allowed the brakes to activate by removing foot from accelerator then punch the accelerator in error. At least nobody was injured (that I know of), can always replace and fix cars and trucks.
It's incredible how much force it hit because it was starting from zero and only accelerated for a second.
You would think that the collision avoidance system would've hit the brakes before making impact.
If it was on and it didn't break, that's what I'd call a big bug.
@Amps I agree.I'll bet ACC was engaged and, because of the curve where he had been stopped, did not detect anything in front of the truck. It then accelerated attempting to get back to set speed. AEB didn't detect the vehicle ahead because the overcorrected angle of the front wheels or too little time/too much acceleration.
My co-workers and I call it a COBRAS problem. Concern Occurs Between Roof And SeatAnother PEBCAK ( Problem Exists Between Chair and Keyboard ), but in this case, PEBCAS (Steering Wheel). SMH.
Imagine being in an Aptera surrounded by Rivians, Lightnings and Cybertrucks with drivers on their smart phones. It's incredible how much force it hit because it was starting from zero and only accelerated for a second.
There are two ways to look at it. Aside from this incident generally speaking when the software goofs at low speed, damage could be less severe than at highway speed but city driving is more complex with higher chance of booboos. These experiences convince me that I will turn off ACC/BC when exiting highway/freeway conditions, local roads should be fully human controlled!
So I can get a convertible, and eliminate that whole class of problems! Sounds great. My co-workers and I call it a COBRAS problem. Concern Occurs Between Roof And Seat
ACC engages for me accidentally more frequently than I would like. Iām not even quite sure how. I donāt use it often enough to have left it on, and I donāt think Iāve hit the button..but apparently I do.I'll bet ACC was engaged and, because of the curve where he had been stopped, did not detect anything in front of the truck. It then accelerated attempting to get back to set speed. AEB didn't detect the vehicle ahead because the overcorrected angle of the front wheels or too little time/too much acceleration.
