I've driven pickup trucks for 50 years now. The Lightning is obviously my first electric. I keep loading up the bed and cab with stuff and running out of space, not once thinking about the big empty area behind the front grille. Does anybody else do this, or is it just me?

If I didn't have a large dog that takes up the whole back seat area, I would probably just throw stuff in the back seat because it's quicker to open. But with the dog, using the frunk comes pretty naturally. I do use it most of the time when shopping.

And of course the "sub frunk" is perfect for storage of things like extension cords, shovel, tow strap, mobile charger.

I don't have exactly the same issue, but I must confess to some What's The Frunk™ behavior. Having had two frunkmobiles for a while (Mr. 2 and Mach-E), I've become accustomed to using frunks for things that are seldom needed -- tools, emergency gear, etc. However, my wife insists that space be kept open in the Lightning frunk for Costco™ loot, so the emergency gear and tools have been banished to the underfrunk and under the rear seats. It's great to have so many places to store, hide, and occasionally lose things.

Result: Our frunk isn't opened very often, which is probably a good thing because I haven't yet "fixed" that annoying loud beeper.

My back seat is 99.9% never used and seats are up. Quicker and more convenient than opening and closing frunk. But totally understand this isn't possible for people who have back seat passengers regularly

We use ours at times, never use the Mach-E one.

Nah, I use mine *incessantly*. But I had RamBoxes on my previous truck, so I am accustomed to extremely convenient alternative storage. I can fit $250-300 in groceries in there as long as I don't try to get the 8-pack of paper towels in there as well, and I love the looks I get in the parking lot as I'm putting full bags 'into my engine' lol You'll get used to it, then start to love it, then wonder how you ever made do without.
Cheers

I use mine all the time. I honestly expected when I bought the truck last year the frunk would be novelty trick for a few months than I’d forget about it. I haven’t, I use it 90% of the time. The only time I don’t use it is for a single bag then I just toss it in the backseat, but that is what I would do in my Sierra. To be honest I very seldom use my bed anymore. I especially love using it for leftovers or if I pick dinner up somewhere that isn’t drive through. No more smells in the cab.

I took the Pavement Princess camping the other day and had to call home to see if I left my cooler there. The wife suggested I might have put it in the frunk.

This is how I do it too. I forget that I have the frunk. I used it the other day for the first time at a grocery store that does on-line orders and they bring it out and load it for you. I opened it just as the guy was coming out with my order and I motioned for him to put it "under the hood". He looked pretty confused o_O So it was kinda fun for that! :teehee:

It’s too small to be useful. I used my Mach e frunk twice in the time I owned it. I put a bag of ice in there on July 4th and threw a wet swim suit in there on July 5th when I drove home.

I use it all the time but... when I pack up for trip to the lake and load the bed to capacity I do forget that I have space up front.
